AUGUSTA, Maine - Gov. John Baldacci is urging Mainers to vote against repealing the new taxes on beer, wine and soda, saying the revenues are needed if Maine is to ever provide universal health coverage.

She's probably guzzling down a "Tom Collins" with the Governor. They're drunk on taxes...
If Maine residents were using their brains, they would demand repeal of the state income tax. It drags down their economy.
If Americans in general were using their brains, they would demand repeal of the federal income tax, replacing it with a national sales tax. Instead, we have socialistic tinkering with deductions, credits, rates, etc. - all designed to punish those who work hard to earn more, and reward those who don’t.
Didn’t the RNC find anyone else to run against her? I mean if she is like the governor why bother voting for her. Republicans do this well she’s an R - vote for her...Ugh. It is bad enough to do that for President but people are forced to vote for R’s during other electioons too....our election process sucks!!!

my family just moved to south carolina from maine because we were being taxed to death up there. property taxes is what drove us out. we were too late in registering to vote in SC so we mailed in our absentee ballots up to maine. Voted for the bill. Never liked susan collins much, but Tom Allen is so much worse.
Smokers have been sucked dry of all their money. They are giving in to the peer pressure by Gubmint and citizens and quitting. We are now smoke free like Obama.
Where is Gubmint going to get the money to pay for stuff?
God Bless you and keep you, and keep smiling upon us, Darlene.
This probably won’t stay on Breaking News for long, so let me get this out before it leaves...
Breaking News, I watched the “Married With Children” episode last night where Al Bundy protested the beer tax!
People just don't listen or possibly just don't care anymore.
It’s not their money. Hell, they don’t even exist to vote.
Totally Un-PC, but I swear the founding fathers were geniuses for limiting voting rights to land owners.
They wouldn’t recognize America today.
Beer tax? For the chilruns?
Casino tax? For the geezers?
Fast food tax? For the ______ (fill in the blank)?
What are McCain’s chances in ME-CD2?
Baldacci has been a disaster for Maine.
ZERO
“In his weekend radio address, Baldacci acknowledges that people are fed up with taxes. But he says there are hardworking Mainers who are also fed up with not having quality health care coverage.”
Oh, they’ll have quality health care coverage alright. It’s the health care itself that will suck out loud. Plus, they’ll be paying more taxes. That’s progress in Democratic minds.
There are also 'hardworking' Mainers who are also fed up with capitalism or with America. I guess we should also listen to them.
Might as well ask Olympia...that’s what Susan does...
It is the only way.
You may not kill it, but you will at least set it back.
