Bush should have been impeached: Donald Trump

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Property mogul and diehard Republican Donald Trump told CNN on Wednesday that President George W. Bush misled the US into the Iraq War and should have been impeached when the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006. "I was surprised that she didn't do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush," Trump said in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, referring to Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. "It ... just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing." Trump, 62, said Bush misled the United States into waging war on Iraq, a much worse offense than a dalliance with a White House intern his predecessor Bill Clinton was impeached for in 1999. "He lied. He got us into the war with lies," Trump said about Bush. "And I mean -- look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. "And yet Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true," he added. On the race for the White House, Trump said he was rooting for John McCain to win the November 4 election...

Trump has a point. Clinton was impeached for lying about an extra-marital affair.

What Bush did was a lot more serious than that. Basically, GWB was asleep for four years, 2003-2007.

The left didn't impeach bush, because they didn't have to. Jorge singlehandedly destroyed conservatism as a movement in his final 4 years in office.

He was the gift that kept on giving... to the left.

Why impeach your greatest asset?

Trump and all of the other most influential liberal Republican constituents should be impeached. They’ve ruined the USA for all except their kind in both parties.

I think that he’s trying to ride the wave of the impeach cry after “the One” takes office with Nancy and Harry.

I believe Mr. Trump feels that Bush elevated the threat of WMD to a level that it shouldn't have been (i.e. nukes). There is no doubt that Hussein had chemical weapons at one time and he probably possessed bioweps as well. Still, there were some in the intelligence community and some inspectors (Scott Ritter for one) who were arguing that there were no WMDs in Iraq.

My disatisfaction with Bush isn't over the invasion of Iraq, but over the execution of the war. It is evident (IMO anyway) that he wanted to keep his tax cuts in tact by allowing Rumsfeld, and directing Casey, military et al to fight a limited war (war on the cheap) instead of employing the proven military tenent of overwhelming force. Limited war resulted in the foreign Al Qeida terror groups being allowed to pour in over the unsecured border and sparked the insurgency after the fall of Baghdad. Together with the looting, crime and widespread anarchy it will serve as Bush's lasting legacy of failure as Commander in Chief.

When will these people understand that Hussein signed a cease fire and not a peace treaty. We were still legally at war with Hussein. He also neglected the cease fire on numerous occasions. He should have been taken out a long time ago. I am glad we took him out. Hussein's chapter is over and we can move on. Now, we are trying to set up a new government and we have to deal with insurgents. Which is good. That gives us a chance to eliminate bad people. Those who would fight us over there would fight us over here. We saw it on 911. The next one could be worse.

Also, after we pulled Hussein from a hole, Khaddafy gave us his WMDs and Syria pulled out of Lebanon. Both countries had sanctions on them and they suddenly decided to abide. Bush sent a ripple through the ME when he went to Iraq. I think he did what Hussein and others thought he would never do. And if you think Hussein was going to act like a good friend, you listen to Sean Penn to much.

You would think a guy like Trump would understand that.

Hey Donald, if you think you can do any better, why don't you run for office? I don't care which party, but when you lose your election, I want to be the first to say, "You're Fiiiiiiiiired!"

You have been creating a lot of havoc on a number of threads today with your ill thought out comments.

Bush was acting on the best information available from the US Intelligence sources. Clinton lied. Bush did everything in his power to fix the breakdown in intelligence. Clinton lied. Bush fixed Clinton's intelligence wall. Clinton lied, and even shaked his finger.

Get a clue, newbie.
