Major Garrett on FNC this morning seemed to think it would be Biden. Maybe the Chet Edwards rumors are just a last-minute attempt to throw people off the scent. Other than people in his own district and political junkies, very few people have even heard of Chet Edwards. At least the other people who have been talked about, whatever their shortcomings, have been "vetted" to some degree.

The most common reaction if Edwards is named will probably be: "Chet Atkins? He can't pick him--he's dead."

If he was as smart as everyone thinks, Obama would turn the VP choice up to the convention. The setup is there with Hillary being put into nomination.

In this fashion, he would avoid vetting her and the convention would assume responsibility for the choice.

All in all a great strategy, but unlikely to be used.

As an interesting side note, I’ve been listening to radio news, off and on all day. The headline has always been, ‘waiting for Obama to decide’.

It almost sounds like he is still dithering over who to pick. I think the Obamites have played this wrong. They were hoping for drama, instead it makes him sound like a dithering idiot, unable to make up his mind.
