Hoogendyk brings to the race a record of consistently opposing tax increases and spending proposals he finds superfluous. He's so conservative he sometimes is out of step with the majority of his own House caucus.
He ran briefly for governor in 2005 before dropping out and giving his support to eventual Republican nominee Dick DeVos.
Hoogendyk has proposed measures that would shorten the legislative session, cut lawmakers' pay, make English the state's official language and call for amending the U.S. Constitution so only legal citizens would be counted when congressional seats are apportioned.
The married father of five cannot run again for the state House because of term limits. Before entering the House, Hoogendyk was in sales and marketing management and worked with a nonprofit association assisting young women and families dealing with unplanned pregnancies.

Jack is another good conservative with an unblemished track record with almost no money. I see a pattern here. What has the Republican party become? Where are the grass roots? Can't afford to give up a happy meal for a fellow conservative? This is embarrassing and then we wonder why we get the bag full of dog doo candidates rising to the top either because they are already filthy rich or they play God like their own personal fiddle.

I will NOT listen to Levin’s bung-hole. That is a fantasy in YOUR mind.

The RNC will be spending its money on McCain who has a problem raising funds because he is a self-described maverick.

I’ll vote for him, and would love to see him win. I’m afraid though that, unless Carl Levin was at the Mayor’s Mansion party and/or was driving the car when the dancer got murdered, the hereditary ruler will be reconsecrated.

I’ve met Jack before. He’s a good man, who has a shot if he can get some help.

Oh, c’mon, man. I’m sure it’s his main source of wisdom and inspiration. I’ll bet it could all bring us world peace.
