Insanity on FR (Vanity)
2/2/08 | tomnbeverly

Posted on 02/03/2008 4:58:36 AM PST by tomnbeverly

The Insanity that has taken over on this forum, when it comes to the potential GOP nominees, is bordering on Psychotic.

1. John McCain and Mitt Romney are both good and decent men.

2. Either one being the GOP nominee is a far cry better then the Surrender Monkeys on the other side.

I only ask that we do not stray into that Liberal arena of Personal destruction. I have listened to Sean and Rush and I blame them for engaging this tactic in our party.

We should never have to tear one candidates record down to promote the other. For that reason alone Ronald Reagan would be turning over in his grave.

“I think he’s a lousy person”

And you get that from having some personal relationship with him.. like when he slapped you at the breakfast table because you asked him to pass the syrup?

If I had the picture I would post “the Bunny with the pancake on his head”

Too many GOPhers look at the short term. If Hillary gets elected, she would be able to do nothing for 4 years except show the world what a megalomaniac she is. However it would solidify the GOP/moderate/old democrat voting block in 4 years. In that time Hillary would do not to change the balance of the SCOTUS. Only LIBS are retiring soon and she would replace them with LIBS not changing the makeup.

If McCain gets the nod, it will fracture the GOP base for a long time to come. He will appoint LIB judges also (REMEMBER HE WAS PART OF THE GANG OF 14!!) and cannot be counted on.

4 years is nothing in the life of politics. Getting the supreme court hard right can be done but it will need a solidified base with a solid GOP leaning majority in the senate and the WH. It would be a detour for 4 year by seeing Hillary/Obama in the WH. But it will be decades if we see McCain in the WH.

Ever wonder why Coulter is talking like she is? Wonder if she "gets it"?

IMO.

and so Mitt and McCain both changed their minds...

Mitt says abortion is bad now... McCain says Amnesty is bad now...

Both are the same no one better than the other..

There IS NO VALUE IN MCCAIN. That is the fallacy of your argument. I REFUSE to vote for him.

Does having an R after your name mean that the truth about you can't be told on FR? We know the RATS & the biased amedia are going to use everything they can against our candidate - so let's get it all out now so we can make a decision about how much about our guy we can stomach and still vote for for him.

I can't see any advantage in playing 'ostrich' and vote for someone who will not honor the presidency and represent us.

I hope that we are better than the RATS who will vote for someone like Hillary who would sell our country out.

I think he’s changed his mind on the subject, or at least seen the light

I would believe in Santa Claus first.

Your tag line says “Let the Candidates records speak for themselves...”, but that is not what you want. You want the candidates records to be unspoken.

Further, you are pathetically insulting anyone who dares to stand firm to their core beliefs by avowing not to support either McCain or Romney, or both. You, sir or madame, have sold your principles to the candidate with the R after his name - assuming your core principles are conservative to begin with.

You should try making persuasive arguments, rather than insulting free-thinkers as “lemmings”. (Which, BTW, tells me you are projecting, big time!)

I will grant that the vitriol within the republican party is out of control, but I daresay that the main perpetrators are those that are trying to keep conservatives on the R plantation.

In summation, I believe that you need to decide what you believe in, and pursue it. If that requires you to insult others who have differing core beliefs, I think you need to reevaluate your own position. Politicians choose to lead a public life, and need to be pretty thick skinned to survive it. Us puny little conservative voters choose to express our feelings, thoughts, and beliefs via sometimes-angry and hyperbolic words on places like FreeRepublic.

If you don’t like it, you know where you can stick it.

"If the conservatives loose control of the Republican party..." I think that has already happened.

McCain is actually more conservative record wise than Huck or Romney.

No. McCain has a conservative voting record BEFORE 1998.

Since then, his record is abysmal. He has sided with the liberal Dems on EVERY major issue except Iraq and abortion.

He even sides with the liberals on wanting to stop FISA from being able to monitor foreign terror suspects in America.

McCain is so overwhelmed with hatred toward GWB he has lost his mind.

I do not believe John McCain is a good man. Opportunist, egotistical. He knows better for me than I know for me. That is not a conservative. And it wasn’t a Republican, well it used to not be.

And if Hillary was registered as a Republican, you'd vote for her.

And if she had a history of voting pro life and as often as not opposed tax hikes and voted to indemnify gunmakers from lawsuits and had Tom Coburn's endorsement and was running against a shrieking socialistic disciple of Saul Alinksy, then yes.

I don’t blame Sean or Rush. I blame “true” conservatives who didn’t see months and months ago that it would come down to a two person race and encouraged the fracturing of the conservative vote by peeing in everyone’s punch bowl.

Put the blame where it belongs. True conservative leadership would never have served up such awful choices. I would hardly call those coming out of the woodwork to support the likes of McNut conservative.

To them the term conservative is just a rallying cry they use to garner votes. Note how conservatives are always told to suck it up and set principles aside to compromise. I'm done compromising.

In the true sense of the word George Bush is NO conservative. Ronald Reagan was the closest in my lifetime, but even he came short of a being true conservative. A true conservative is a strict Constitutionalist. Maybe someone could point out to me a current politician who is also a strict supporter of the Constitution?

“And by the way, there isn’t going to be a mass uprising in 2010 in the streets or in the ballot boxes. Once the unwashed mases taste “free” government they won’t go back.”

Some view McCain (or Romney, for that matter) as allowing this process to continue. Since it appears IMPOSSIBLE to halt, some would choose to preserve their integrity, especially when it becomes time to rebuild The Failed Experiment.

Approximately 81 million Americans receive benefits from Government, either directly or as employment. What is the population of voting Americans? An even more shocking number is that from 1962, the rate of “dependent” Americans grows at 2.5 times that of the population growth! Continued open borders will “seal the deal.”

I’m not trying to hijack. I probably will pull the lever for McNutt also. I think this election bring to the forefront the bigger problem that we have: The death (in the public sphere) of conservatism, and what’s going to happen, and what our we going to do about it.

No you have to say McCain is mentally unbalanced ..

"Mentally unbalanced" is not a clinical absolute term like say.... insane, or criminal.

Britney Spears is 'mentally unbalanced' .... Charles Manson is a criminal.

See the difference.

McCain, by his actions, has proved himself to be mentally unbalanced in his obsession and hatred for GWB and for faithful Republicans who don't bow down to his authority.

Perhaps we lost control, but we didn’t loose our voice. Now, it looks like we’re going to loose that too.

There is a bright side.

It will be fun watching McNasty go down in flames in November.

I wasted my time voting for Bob Dole.
This time, I cant sit back and enjoy the show.

Does the Republican nominee either Mitt or John need the FR vote? The right side of the party stays home do they pull enough from the center?
