JUST stop. For a couple of minutes, stop listening to the vanity-stricken talking heads, the madcap ideologues and the party hacks who believe you should jump to attention when they tell you who to vote for.
Stop and look at this primary season. In both parties. Set aside your political preferences for a moment and consider the field of candidates.
As Americans - Republican, Democrat or Independent - we should all be proud. This is, by far, the most all-American primary season we've ever had.
Who's running for the chance to run? A woman. An evangelical Christian. A black. A war hero. A Mormon. A William Jennings Bryan populist. And, although they recently dropped out, we also had a new son of the Old South and an Italian-American mayor in the mix.

But I respect the voters, Republican and Democrat, who've thumbed their noses at the party machines to make this a real race. We, the people, refused to let the back-room boys make our choices for us.
This is democracy at its best.
The US is a republic, not a democracy.
What diversity? They’re all dangerous looneytunes.
Mr. Peters has the typical liberal viewpoint: it’s not the abilities that are important, it’s the appearance.
I beg to differ.
When liberals say ‘diversity’ they don’t mean diversity of opinion, diversity of thought. In fact, the only ‘diversity’ they tolerate is absolute conformity to the orthodox liberal line on all issues.
Hail President McCain. Hail President Clinton. Hail President Obama.
The same exact brain in three differently-appearing bodies.
It’s the pod-people presidency.
Hey, how come this guy makes no mention of the McCain candidacy?!
He should have included and a poster-child for the mentally unstable backstabbers of America.
The "back-room boys" are now Wall Street - and don't think that McCain or Clinton would be anywhere near the top of the polls if Goldman Sachs and the others weren't 100% sure they could be relied upon to put the financial industry's interests first.
Classifying success by the color/gender/faith of the people running is exactly the wrong thing.
We cannot say that this is the most qualified group of candidates. In fact, its one of the least qualified groups ever.
Obama - lightweight popularist with no executive experience
Hillary - no executive experience but married to one
McCain - with no executive experience and willing to compromise principles as long as he gets his way
Romney - polished turd who took 40 years to see the light
Huckabee - wishy-washy governor of a 48th class state
The author has it 100% wrong.
No albino lesbians running. This country will never be fair. (sigh)
I should mention, I will vote for the polished turd.
The rest of them are totally unacceptable.
POLISHED TURD FOR PRESIDENT!
I think you’re saying, “Mitt Happens.”
LOL!
It beats the following;
1) 1st term lightweight for president!!!
2) HyperAmbitious lightweight for president!!!
3) Turncoat back stabber for president!!!
4) Preacher turned politician for president!!!
I feel soooo lucky!! A politically correct campaign slate for president!!
“As Americans - Republican, Democrat or Independent - we should all be proud.”
What’s to be proud of?
None of the remaining candidates are fit to be trash collectors.
I’d sick the dogs on any of them if they tried to come up my driveway. I’d move if they were my neighbors.
If we’re going to elect the worst person on earth, let’s open this thing up.
How about the little monkey from Iran? Or that fat tub from Venezuala?
If we’re going for rock bottom, let’s go all the way.
Diversity? Well, that’s OK with me.
But even if every candidate was of exactly the same race, religion, gender, and ethnicity, it would not matter to me so long as I had a great diversity of positions and experiences to choose from.
I’m really not into identity politics.
LOL !
I beg to differ.
You are so right. It is articles like this one that reminds me we haven't come very far at all. It's still all about color, gender or creed. If this weren''t true, this article wouldn't have needed to be written. Quite sad.
There. I fixed it for you, Ralph.
This is democracy at its best.
Sure, Ralph, sure. There's not a single, genuine, decent Conservative left among them and we've barely started voting in the Primaries. For the MSM, Liberals, and Country-Clubbers, that is "democracy at its best" (sic) - for them. For them, it's a victory of historic proportions!
The fix is in.
Well, yeah, but the article didn't need to be written.
It's simply out there as a self-congratulatory slap on the back for those expecting to be victorious in the coming election.
