If the general election is McCain or Obama….

Posted on 01/31/2008 12:02:04 PM PST by Robbin

If the general election is McCain or Obama….

You can vote for one of those two, not vote for President, write in (which is the same as not voting), or vote third party

I will NEVER vote for McCain, you can take that to the bank! If you feel the same way, that leaves us with: Don’t vote, Write in, third party or OBAMA…

Not voting buys me nothing, write in or third party may make me feel a little better but unless the third part ticket is FRED/DUNCAN I don’t see myself going that route... But I’m toying with voting for OBAMA.

I realize I will be banned from the Freeper convention but hear me out….

Instead of not voting for McCain, I would get the sheer pleasure of voting AGAINEST HIM! It makes me warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. Now I’ve said over and over on this forum that I will never vote for the lesser of two evils again, because our evil gets more evil every election because we keep voting for them. The same people screaming vote for Mitt to stop McCain will be screaming vote for McCain to stop Hillary/Obama. But I wouldn’t be voting for the lesser of two evils, I would be voting FOR the first African American president! Obama will beat McCain in a landslide in the general election anyway because the liberals and independents that have supported him will all vote for Obama, so my voting for Obama will be meaningless except for two things.

1 Revenge on McCain for all the crap he has pulled on conservatives over the years.

2 Statistics yep, all the numbers that will be quoted over the years about the Obama victory. How many white males voted for Obama How many Republicans voted for Obama How many conservatives voted for Obama How many Rebel Flag flyers voted for Obama

The bigger the Obama victory, the weaker the race card will be in all future elections. The next time a liberal implies that my rebel flag is racist, I’ll say I’m not racist, I voted for Obama. I’ll get to drive around with my Obama bumper sticker for 8 years. Maybe the next African American I get to vote for will be a conservative republican like J.C. Watts or Mike Steele. Until then I think “Conservatives for Obama” has a nice ring to it….

"And no, I won't vote for Hillary, just can't do that..."

Unfortunately not voting for the Republican *IS* a vote for Hillary or Obama. Math is funny that way.

Think what you’re saying.

If it does come down to McCain and Obama, and you don’t vote, the result is you’re giving two votes to Obama by your obstinacy.

And, I think he is less beatable than Hillary. Still, I think I’d write in a vote if McCain is the nominee.

So you’ll vote for the greater of two evils?

That doesn’t make much sense.

Overall, regardless of my personal feelings for McCain, the country would be better off with a President McCain than a President Obama — so I would vote for John McCain.

On the bright side (as a conservative, I prefer optismism) — there are some not insignificant issues on which John McCain is absolutely right — namely the War on Terror, Iraq and National Security. And, though he’s a little shaky on taxes — he’s not so shaky as to be as offensive as Obama.

Everything that’s doctrinally wrong with John McCain is equally wrong with Obama ... and in every area McCain is right, Obama is wrong. John McCain has SIGNIFICANT problems — but he’d be a long shot better than Barack Obama.

America is screwed no matter who is elected. America may never pull out of it. I would rather a dummycrat took the blame. The 8 years of bush will be just a less steep part of the downward slope.

I agree. The damage those two forces would inflict on this nation would be irreparable. I think he would be such a disaster in office that he would be single term, but in that time we would see shamnesty become a reality, national universal health care, higher taxes and the same economy that resulted from the Carter years.

In addition, I shudder to think how terrorists will be emboldened by what I perceive to be his pacifist approach to dealing with al-Qaeda and despots like Ahmadinijad.

I know he said he’d invade Pakistan if terrorists were there; however, I think that was bluster just for show.

I have nothing against the man personally; I simply do not like his policies, his lack of experience or his approach to the War on Terror; however, I know that the Moonbats will tell me I’m a racist.

Having re-read your post and the logic(?) therein, you shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

The real last legacy of any President is the SCOTUS Justices that they appoint. They will affect your life for decades. The next President will appointing as many as three new Justices. McCain will appoint right-to-life Justices. Obama will appoint "free choice" Justices.

Bottom line: Your vote for Obama is a vote for the murder of millions of innocent babies.

It won’t matter, McCain won’t win anyway. Think about McCain going up against either Democrat and giving a performance like he gave last night. The Democrat is going to snicker and apologize to the audience for having to contradict McCain’s senior moment.

Amen to that. Does anyone think Clinton won't pounce on McCain when he tries to cover his weaknesses on economic issues by talking about his military service? And does anyone think the general election debate moderators, much less network pundits, will give McCain a pass on his evasions and distortions? Not likely.

Hold your nose and vote for McCain.

If hillary gets in, look for a movement to allow Bill/Hillary to serve multiple terms (like FDR).

We don’t want a Jimmy Carter economy and international whimp status. Even though that gave us Reagan, I think there are too many Socialists/Communists today. If the economy folds, they will want MORE government control.

I’d vote for McCain ONLY if Osama is the Dem candidate. Otherwise, if it’s McCain and Hellary, I plan to sit it out, because I really don’t see much difference between them and they’re both nasty, ugly people.

If conservatives are going to write someone in, it might be a good idea to have some general agreement as to who it would be, so that it would have the greatest impact.
