After starting with >13,000 possibilities, the 3rd annual Best Of Today's Toons is over & all the votes have been tallied. Neither hanging nor pregnant chads were encountered & Diebold equipment was not used. First, a few stats. This was the closest voting to date. 29 of the 40 finalists received 1st-place votes. There were 82 valid entries received & thanks to all of you who took the time to vote!! Votes were cast, in order of preference, for between 1 & 10 of the finalists. Cartoonists Michael Ramirez(12), Sam Ryskind(3), Glenn McCoy(3), Eric Allie(2), Mark Thornhill(2) & Chris Muir(2) all had the multiple items in the finals. FReepers reagan_fanatic & ThePeoplesCube had one item apiece. The method of scoring was as follows: A 1st-place vote received 10 pts., a 2nd-place vote earned 9 pts., ..., down to a 10th-place vote which got 1 pt.
If you'd like to inquire about possibly helping (as one FReeper has already done) with the Best Of 2008, FReepmail me by the end of this month at the latest (shortly after which the Best Of January 2008 will be determined) & I'll tell you what would be involved. And now, the results:

Great line up. Noticed a lot of Ramirez there.
I thought it was the results of the preliminary round and now we were supposed to pick our next top 10...sort of an elimination round type thing....my bad! LOL...been a long day.
Excellent cartoons. #1 definitely deserved to win. Congratulations to all the winners (and that includes us for getting the opportunity to see them).
I nominate you for FOY!!
Well done, and thank you!
I nominate you for FOY!!
Thank you. However, if nominated, I will not run (except when I'm playing baseball); if elected, I will not serve (other than when I prepare dinner for my girlfriend)!!
Thanks again, Kevin!!
Also received some comments from the winners:
I posted a story about our win on the Cube -

My pleasure, as ever, DollyCali!
First Dominic the Great then you finish with Latka Gravas on the “Thank you beddy much”. Got it!
Thanks, Pookie, for updating us on the responses! And for letting our brilliant conservative cartoonists know that they are appreciated. Talent like that deserves recognition!
BTTT!
# 6 would make a great bumper sticker! Thanks for the hard work pookie!
Actually a window sticker, because of the vertical layout.
