The video was part of a diversity training program, but a city official said portrayals of white people struck a nerve among employees. (From city of Denver video )The city administration has pulled a diversity training video after a white employee said it unfairly singled out white people as racist and sexist. The eight-minute video, titled "Laughing Matters," depicted a character named Billy making off-color sexist and racist jokes on topics such as Carlos not doing any work while waiting for supplies.
"Right now, their (the city's) diversity program is racially motivated against white males," said Dennis Supple, a white heating mechanic who has worked for the city for about 18 months.
Kathy Maloney, spokeswoman for the Career Service Authority, announced Tuesday the video was being pulled.
Wow, I never thought I would see the day that someone would actually stand up against this junk. My hope has been renewed a little. Conservative southern white Christian males have long been the most hated people on the planet. We are the last group that is still politically correct to hate and ridicule. Racism is racism not matter who the subject is. The other thing that bothers me is every white/black/asian male on TV, be it commercials or shows, is portrayed as an incompetent fool that women must treat as a child. When the shoe is on the other foot we never hear the end of it.
