India builds a 2,050 mile fence for $1.2B, but here in the U.S. a 700 mile fence costs $2.2B (and that’s the low estimate!).

The Beltway political class must do what’s right for America instead of pandering to the Mexican govt. I am sure that the Mexicans will feel “insulted,” but if pols in DC show any spine, they’ll give up too and get used to reality.

There is one significant difference between the two cases though. In the US, we have a president who is more interested in “rights” for criminals than he is interested in enforcing the law.

In 1985 the government of India mooted the idea of constructing a fence along their common international frontier in the eastern part of the country. Subsequently, after deliberations at the highest policy-making levels, the decision was made to erect barbed wire fencing along entire common boundary with Bangladesh. The move to put up a barrier along the border was made to check illegal infiltration, contain smuggling and to frustrate militants who were using the border route to cross over into India to commit subversive acts.

Sounds just like the US-Mexico border.

Maybe India can build the Mexican Border fence where the nation that built the Panama Canal and the Hoover Dam, created air planes, conquered polio, and placed a man on the moon cannot.

It's not a lack of nowhow that has paralysed the U.S.A. It's DECADENCE--the LEFT! That and electing fools to public office--fools like George Bush! Lindsey Graham! Trent Lott! I’ve worked on several outsourcing projects, the difference in cost of labor is not as extreme as this example (not nearly), albeit my experience is in a much more skilled industry than fence building.

This ought to be interesting. Unlike the US-Mexico border, which is clearly defined, the India-Bangladesh border is not a single line.

There are about 92 Bangladeshi enclaves (pieces of Bangladesh territory completely surrounded by Indian territory) on the Indian side of the line and about 106 Indian enclaves on the Bangladeshi side of the border.
