A skeleton tied up with shackles and chains and thought to date from the Middle Ages has been found in an archaeological dig in Ávila, behind the citys Church of San Pedro.
Its the second such find in the city, although coming in a different place, and it has led experts to think that death occurred during some form of punishment.
Tomorrow, Thursday the latest find will be taken to the Provincial Museum where the skeleton will be studied and protected.
The Municipal Archaeologist, Rosa Ruiz, said it was from before the 16th century and after the 13th.

Oh fine, NOW they will protect it. Bout 500 years too late don't you think?
You have to wonder what happened though, don't you. Did they simply forget that they had this poor urchin chained in the dungeon. Maybe a change in leadership and he was forgotten. We will never know the story behind that and that is what really fascinates me.

Writing on the wall above the skeleton stated that the Holy Grail could be found at Castle Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.

This has the makings of a plot for an historical mystery novel.

and it has led experts to think that death occurred during some form of punishment. LoL, I sure hope they aren't waiting for an autopsy to rule out any other cause.
To: BenLurkin
I noticed that too.
OTOH, if a shackled skeleton is found (500 years from now) in an archelogical dig near San Francisco, it'll led experts that think that death didn't occur during some form of punishment.

Why would anybody put a skeleton in shackles?
Do they think the skeleton is going to escape?
Just too weird..

No, some people just like to sleep in shackles and chains. It's a perfectly normal thing to do. /roll eyes
