I got about as far as hearing that he had to write it on a blog 'cuz he was afraid to tell daddy. (Dumb kids!)
>"Who do you see as the audience for your book?"
Well, look in the mirror. Stewart Smalley, if he can find anymore childrens charities to STEAL from!
DITTO THAT you noodlebrained commie ftool!
For your interest and perhaps the list's
I agree. I think he found a good way to sell himself and is riding it for all its worth.
I won't buy his book - I'll wait for the movie. I'm sure they'll make one before 2008.
He is dead wrong about Rush. First of all, Rush DOES only present one side of the argument. He presents the side that is not presented in the 100s of other media out there. If you totally disagree with Rush, you will agree with the NYT, the LAT, and the WaPo. And most TV news. So don't listen!
Second, Rush disagrees with the current administration often enough these days. But yes, I am sure Rush DOES feel that if we have to have any of these idiots in power in government, the Republican idiots are better than the Democrat ones.
Third, this author is only saying that some people change sides for various reasons. This guy decided to become a liberal, and mazel tov, have a good time with all that. There are a lot of people coming from the other side too. A Radical Son is a good book of a classic tale from 60s leftist to conservative, by David Horowitz.
Rush has personally converted thousands, I am sure. Not because we are mind-numbed. But because what the left has been saying doesn't make sense. We have plenty of problems with our current Republican leadership, and we are not living in ideal times in which to expand every detail of our ideology (taxes, shrinking government, etc). We are forced to focus on the WOT right now.
And believe me, we on the right SERIOUSLY WONDER how those on the left can believe what they believe. How can they seriously think Bush lied to get us into war, or that he is in Iraq for oil money?
This guy is the political equivalent of the "enlightened" formerly Christian atheists. They grow up in an environment where a set of beliefs is so pervasive that when it occurs to them to question the beliefs, and nobody conveniently at hand has immediately satisfactory answers, they jump to the conclusion that no such answers exist, and jump to the opposite extreme instead of taking it upon themselves to do the homework necessary to rationally examine and weigh the evidences. It's pure intellectual laziness.
I'm entertaining the possibility that Derych is, in reality, a capitalist entrepreneur -- who created a product specifically in order to serve a market.
A Buchanan who is reaching out to the left, so to speak...
I think its strange that he says Republican issues are gay marraige and immigratin ...but fails to talk at legth about Iraq , the WOT or the really defining issues
Radical Son is one of my favorite books
I started to read this, and then I thought "why bother? It's just another smart-ass lib trying to sell books to other smart-ass libs."
Sorry, but I don't think I've EVER seen a genuine conservative go liberal. That's a flow that just doesn't really work because of the nature of the two belief systems. Might there be Republican voters who go Democrat? Sure, there are some of those, but I think that for the person with genuine conservative convictions, the leap to liberalism is a virtual impossibility.

When was Goldwater President? I went to public schools and can`t remember.
It's easy to make the transition -- once the lobotomy's been done, the rest is a piece of cake.
Translation: The boy is as queer as a three-dollar bill just like that other backwards "convert", David Brock.
(yawn)
Did David Brock ever get back to earth?
He was a lib all along. I used to be a lib and a Dem until I had a heartfelt conversion when I saw 95% of the Dems line up on the wrong side just before the first Gulf War. I know libs. This guy was and is a lib. He probably always will be a lib unless one day he wakes up and can't stand to look at himself in the mirror.
Get OVER yourself, you fraud, you're not worth the stamp to mail the subpoena. Sue you for WHAT? This doofus has Rush confused with that Swiftboat-lawsuit-happy guy who ran for president in '04...he served in Vietnam...voted for things before voting against them...let's see, what was his name?
