Thx, folks. Glad I'm not the only one who has trouble envisioning the jump between real conservatism and liberalism. Not sure what this guy's story is, but at first glance it looks like it might've been a book ploy all along, one that has enjoyed only the tiniest measure of success among a fringe element of our society.

Whether or not he is honestly relating his past (I doubt it), he is an idiot. I strongly suspect this is all about pandering to his fellow Kos-freak psychos by telling an entertaining (to them) tale of redemption-to-the-loony-left. Reading his remarks here, I find it hard to believe that he ever sincerely believed anything conservative. I am NOT a "dittohead" (I simply don't listen to much radio, ever) but knowing some people who are, everything this guy describes about some mindless cult parrotting Rush Limbaugh is simply ludicrous. I suspect this guy is merely the latest lib charlatan trying to come up with a new angle to sell books and be worshipped by the Kos-psychos. Here's what he's all about:
"But it does make a good retaliatory gift if someone has ever purchased an Ann Coulter book for you. If she's going to get rich off of it, why shouldn't I? I would like to sell one of my books for every Ann Coulter book sold in this country."

The guy talks about all these things Rush is wrong about, but offers not one example. The government revenues in the 1st 3 years of Bush's presidency won't count. The tax cuts didn't get in people's pockets till the end of the 2nd year. So it took a year for the economy to kick in. Big deal.

Another thing the Democrats need to doand this may seem counterintuitiveis to stop responding to Republicans. They should just tell the voters what they are going to do.That's all the Democrats can do -- respond to Republicans with catch phrases. They have no plan, at least no plan that would make any thinking citizen vote for them. So that's all they can do -- demonize and respond with catch phrases.

interesting.. since he has a daily show and not a weekly show that makes no sense. Are you saying that he went from 20 million a day to 15 million a week?
To: jwh_Denver
Would you mind giving me the date. I want to go back and listen to the broadcast myself. Thanks

"Are you saying that he went from 20 million a day to 15 million a week?"
I was surprised when I heard it. I never heard that he had 20 million a day only 20 million a week. I have no idea on what day he said it. It was just a few (2-4) before I first posted.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay underground. I don't think this piece is going to promote sales enough for another printing.
Shalom.

He gives "dittohead" a dubious spin.
Originally it wasn't so much to indicate that callers were going to say the same thing, as to just get beyond all the praise and compliments to substantive discussion. So it's a bum rap to argue that the term means absolute agreement with Rush about everything.
By this point, I don't really think the term is used that much. It had to do with Rush being the one guy out there who presented the conservative point of view in an effective and convincing way. Obviously that's not the case now. If you want conservative opinion there are plenty of places to go.
Media have a lifecycle. Rush was new and exciting and provocative a decade or so ago. Now he's pretty much old hat and a lot more of a cheerleader for the GOP than an independent observer.
So it's easy to understand why some listeners may be less enthusiastic about his show now than in the Nineties. But if one got anything from the show at all, I doubt one would embrace John Kerry and the mainstream media.

Americans were influenced by Walter Communist, and ilk, not to mention that exploding nuke ad. The Establishment undermined Goldwater. Nearly 100% of the Left and a barfable percentage of the rest, underminded him. This is a real hotbutton for you ... ya big tenter!

So in the wink of an eye he went from a pro life, pro gun, Islamofascist hunting, freedom loving American to a pro abortion, gun grabbing, Islamofascist appeasing believer in big government from cradle to grave?
Amazing!

Reagan did not kowtow to faux conservatives. He wasn't any sort of big tent guy. He was more of a mountain cabin guy. You know immediately whether or not you want to be inside. No circus needed to attract any lukewarm idiots.
