Taliban Democrats...( Karl Rove could not have devised a more brilliant plan)
Townhall ^ | August 10, 2006 | Cal Thomas

Posted on 08/10/2006 7:28:42 AM PDT by IrishMike

The narrow primary defeat of veteran senator Joe Lieberman in Connecticut's Democratic primary is more than a loss for one man. It is a loss for his party and for the country. It completes the capture of the Democratic Party by its Taliban wing.

They used to be "San Francisco Democrats," a phrase coined by former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Jeane Kirkpatrick to describe the party's 1984 convention. But they have now morphed into Taliban Democrats because they are willing to "kill" one of their own, if he does not conform to the narrow and rigid agenda of the party's kook fringe.

Lieberman's one "sin," in the eyes of the Taliban Democrats, was that he supported the effort to defeat the insurgent-terrorists in Iraq. As a Jew, Lieberman is particularly sensitive to those who have targeted the Jewish people for extinction. But even if he weren't Jewish, he would still "get it," because he understands what's at stake in the region and has correctly concluded that the consequences of American failure in Iraq would be catastrophic.

His detractors, who brought him down in the primary with a one-issue, inexperienced and unqualified candidate, Ned Lamont, hate President Bush so much that their judgment has been distorted. Former Bill Clinton aide Lanny Davis, in a recent column for The Wall Street Journal titled "Liberal McCarthyism," printed a sample of the incendiary rhetoric directed toward Lieberman. There is thinly-veiled anti-Semitism ("As everybody knows, Jews ONLY care about the welfare of other JewsŠ" posted on Daily Kos); irrationality ("Joe Lieberman is a racist and a religious bigot." Daily Kos) and personal attack ("Lieberman cannot escape the religious bond he represents. Hell, his wife's name is Haggadah or Muffeletta or Diaspora or something you eat at Passover." Posted on the Huffington Post blog).

..Oh individual members may be loons, but the leadership has continued to be relatively lucid if somewhat noisy about policy.
.
.
.
You would consider Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid lucid.

Just because an election has taken place, it does not mean that terrorism stops. It will continue. The west will continue to be hated for who we are, not for what we have done.
If the right maintains power then we can expect acts of terror to be minimized. If the left gains power we can expect appeasement, which the muzzies view as surrender, and the escalation of attacks. The people will have a clear view of who provides protection against terror and will choose safety over, "finding common ground with those who hate us". No longer will we "try to understand why they feel the way they do" and we will begin to systematically dismantle these murderous groups along with the communities that give them full aid and comfort.

There will be a hell of a price to pay to have the left in power, but it will be the ultimate demise of anything that resembles Howard Dean and his ilk.

If the left is in power during a major attack then the conspiracy crowd will be left without a power broker to point to for blame. They will however find someone other than their own appeasement to blame. After all, they blame their own lack of job and success in life on others, why wouldn't they do that on a national level as well. But it is not the folks who still live in their parent's basement that need to be convinced. It is those who are swayed by their arguments and are inclined to vote that way that need to be awakened from their slumber.

The problem with being so successful in the war against islamic radicals is that we soon forget what we are fighting against. Once the fight is brought back on to our soil, people will once again realize that the threat is real.

It is not that I desire to live in fear. I desire to remove that fear not by negotiating with wolves, but to eliminate those who cause the fear. Dead people simply do not pose a mortal threat to the living....at least in the sense of blowing stuff up.

Not much on computer... I'm a dinosaur.

.

Nor I. Twenty plus years at a trade (HVAC Engineer) and beginning three years ago, I've three in the office plus a lap-top, and one at home.
The one at home I just switched to cable from DSL because it's faster. Still type with two fingers (one each hand) and god bless the person who invented'spell check'.

It will be interesting to see all Lieberman's colleagues (the Clintons, his fellow Dem Senators, etc.) who stumped tirelessly for him in 2000 and the MSM who labeled him the "conscience of the Senate" dump him and support Lamont - the one with the "D" after his name.

I would like that guy Brooks who wrote Bobos in Paradise to take on describing who are all those rich people who elected Lamont. I'll bet, they support bigger government because they have guilty consciences and have not learned social responsibility themselves. That has been something I expected and has come true. Thoe who benefit from class warfare do not act like wealthy people who have a responsibiity to give back. They go by the slogan, "I got mine, now you get yours." They could really be embarassed by the right sociologists.

Lieberman's loss reduces the size of the Democrats' tent to that of a pup tent.

A small tent that is shared by a gay couple that wants the right to marry so they won’t be living in sin, a woman whose ‘choice’ is to kill her unborn baby so she can advance her career, an unmarried mother of eight (by six different men) whose occupation is listed as ‘welfare recipient’, an HIV+ drug user who gets his syringes from government programs, a kid with too many piercings and tattoos that vandalizes my SUV, a union member who says ‘that aint my job’, a leader of a ‘multi colored coalition’ that hates all races but his own, a man that thinks that my hunting rifle is a danger to society, and coming soon : an anchor baby and her family of twelve who crossed the border when mom was dilated 8cm.

There is certainly no room for me in this tent, and if there was I would not be interested.

No not really ... but they voted in rational ways. They haven't tried to slash the military budget or re-instate the draft. They haven't voted on sanctions against Israel for defending itself, or tried to impeach anyone.

They have for the most part done nothing more than talk a good game for the nutjobs on their extreme left, but at the end of the day, they voted like they had to. Anything else would be suicidal for America.

With the victory of Ned... now comes the left wing suicide attempts.

"Independant Democrat"....has a nice ring to it. The predicted fracture of the Democratic party may yet be in the making if the likes of Zell and Joe get together. I'm no liberal, and definitely no pundit...but it would be in the best interest of this country, and the whole world, to see the likes of Zell and Joe take back their hi-jacked party. The anti-WaronTerror, anti-defense, appeasing left are, even beyond the terrorists themselves, our gravest enemies and concern. IMHO, I believe many to be closet anarchists seeking to destroy us from within and from without. Lets hope the likes of Zell and Joe can turn the tide back to a "better for America and the World" Democratic party.( P.S. Yes, I would vote for the lesser of two evils.)

It is inevitable that one of the two major parties is going to split and create three major parties, it's only a matter of time, and my bet is that it will be the Rats that split.

Id like to see that also...
BUT (hate that word), there have been times when I believed there would be a major split between Conservatives and Republicans. Most recently on the immigration issue. There is a huge divide between Conservatives and Liberal Republicans...RINO's as they've come to be known. In New York State (possibly others) the Republicans and Conservatives are different parties.

This from a Lib on another board....

"ARE GOP CANDIDATES THAT FAR BEHIND in the polls to have yet another war ....this time in Lebanon and a major hijacking plot on airplanes bound for the U.S.

Ehud Olmert and Blair appear to be on the RNC payroll."

Odd isn't it today how many lefty loons are coming out of the closets to say this terror plot exposed today by the Brits and USA and Pakistan was really a plot by Bush-Rove. Even 9/11 is a USA plot. The nuts of the Left are so delusional that one wonders what will happen if they do achieve leadership. One nut today told Medved that the true Americans would capture and purge the liars like Medved, Rush,Rove, Bush and ............I see the French Revol. by these nutty leftist Dems. God what a group of horrors they are.

Great and funny post. And as long as Dems are out of power, the 2nd Amendment will be free, sanctified and correct. That the Dems would ever regain power makes real Americans puke with indignation over their treasonous thinking processes.
