Smoking Ban Meeting Planned For Tuesday
POSTED: 7:04 pm CDT September 19, 2005 UPDATED: 1:35 pm CDT September 20, 2005
MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Common Council is preparing to clear the air on the city's smoking ban Tuesday night.
Many of those who have rallied to repeal the smoking ban are expected to attend Tuesday night's common council meeting.
Three smoking-related things are on the agenda including an outright appeal of the ban, an amendment to allow businesses to apply for a hardship exemption and a proposal for a citywide referendum.
"It doesn't look like there's enough votes to repeal the ban," said Mayor Dave Cieslewicz. "And at this point, it doesn't look like there are enough votes for the other options as well. At this point, it looks like the smoking ban will remain in place."
Spokesmen for the group that supports repealing the smoking ban said they have eight of the 11 votes needed for repeal.
Nice try..........no cigar.
You stated from the get go your support of this measure.
Now, if you are backing off that original position I will be more than happy to discuss the realities of SHS and smoking bans with you.
I was probably wrong on your heritage. If you have anything to do with software- Bet you're from Pakistan or India, am I right? And probably work for less than an American. Which is the only reason they hired you in the first place. Don't know why they didn't just send the job overseas to you, that's what they usually do these days. I'll never see your response anyway, as I'm from now on skipping over your posts, regardless of what thread they're on. I refuse to recognize your existence from now on. This is the way I deal with trolls on this board. It takes a lot of will power, and takes a lot more time, but it's worth it. That's why I have no problems with blood pressure. I no longer have to endure people like you, especially in the workplace. That's precisely why I retired early. My last job was white-collar, under a foreigner who came here for the American buck. He made no attempt to attempt to fit in, I had to ask him to repeat everything, as he spoke in broken english. Didn't want to learn it properly. No need, as he probably had no intention of ever becoming a citizen. He spent most of his day either flirting with the women, or throwing his weight around. He made what should have been the easiest job in the world-difficult. Kept your guts in knots. When I was about to turn 62, I thought long and hard-and decided to hell with 'the new workplace.' Retired early, and don't miss it a damned bit. Goodbye, troll.
Thank you, my FRiends.
Considering you are obviously not taking a true ESL ( English as SECOND Language, not "spoken") course - I seriously doubt I will even consider it. Most especially since I have taught many of the real ones.........
Wow, you are a lot older than me. I am only 27. Young and highly accomplished. An fyi to you, I make a 6 figure salary just like any other Lead Scientist American or non-American. Quite a lot of money huh? let me dictate this to you. The CPU you are using is designed and analyzed with my algorithm. So i command you, you resist using it at the voltage me and my colleagues specified as the operating voltage. You exceed it, the CPU is a gone case. There, I gave the command. you have the choice. You either follow it and if you do not follow it, I command you you have absolutely no option other than buying another CPU which I helped develop.
There two commands. Now suck it up and live with it. 62 means you should already be counting!!!!
No offense taken because I have also done both - sometimes at the same time.
It's ALWAYS white-collar whining yuppies who are anti-smoker Taliban. ABSOLUTELY..without question, you are perfectly correct
The fact I got less than 4 hours sleep last night might have something to do with it :)
I can't believe I missed this comment of yours.
You have NAILED the whole thing about these people.
You supported this particular move to ban smokig in private establishments and stated it wasa good thing because you don't like smoke - thus you support government mandated smoking bans in private businesses.
Please point me to your post that states you oppose government mandated smoking bans upon private businesses. All over your posts refer to public places, which is exactly how the authorties in this locality are considering private businesses.
Having just quickly skimmed "his" comments, my guess would be he's from a communist/socialist country.
What was it I was sayig about my husband fixing the problems caused by the geeks?
Job security is a wonderful thing.

I don;t like smokers and people who smoke and throw their cigarettes on the road while driving.
Smoking causes bad allergic reactions, asthma and shortness of breath to many people. I am one of them who suffer when someone is smoking in public around me. Inhaling second hand smoke even by accident causes my body to react badly with shortness of breath.
Hence, I totally support banning smoking in all public places.
If people want to smoke, let them smoke in their own private areas instead of public places. As long as the smokers do not make the non-smokers victims of their second hand smoke, I believe it is well and good.

You did not differentiate between private and public. That failure on your part is the reason for the grief you are currently getting - you now have an opportunity to redeem yourself by admitting that a private business open to the public is still a PRIVATE business and the owner's rights outrank yours.
You do not have any brain. I admit that!!!
GO BACK AND REREAD THE POSTS #65, #169 and #190. I EVEN GAVE YOU EXAMPLES OF PRIVATE AND PUBLIC PLACES IN POST#194.
IF YOU STILL DO NOT UNDERSTAND, LIKE I SAID RE-READ THE POSTS #65, #169 AND #190 IN THAT ORDER AND FOLLOW IT UP WITH THE EXAMPLES IN POST#194.
KEEP ON RE-READING AND RE-READING AND MORE RE-READING....DO NOT STOP UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND....
Yet another troll to ignore in the future.
I quit almost 8 months now but the ban is stupid. Hell they fined a prestigious club here in NY for having ashtrays in the OFFICE.
