So it is only a religion IF the government says it is and it is OK? Whew, I am glad I don't live in your idea of a country. Sounds a little like Afghanistan under the Taliban or England under Henry Vlll.

Then, there is the quote that some attribute to L. Ron Hubbard.

"Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man wanted to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion" - L. Ron Hubbard - creator of Dianetics and founder of the Church of Scientology

No, it's only a religion if it's not invented by a paranoid schizophrenic sci-fi writer who told his peers that the real money isn't in science fiction writing, but rather in starting a religion.

Do a little research - Scientology is nothing more than a cult that harasses its detractors and bilks believers (aka suckers) out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

None? Not even "Legend" or "Cocktail" or "Days of Thunder?"

I mean, like, dude, those were total classics.

Yeah, but, you see, I'm TheGeezer, unhip, out of circulation with bad circulation...

Strange, but Cruise's physique looks very much like it got some help from steroids- which would also explain his goofy behavior. What's in those scientologist "vitamins" anyway?

His paranoia (eek) and superiority complex about psychiatry and psych med and ADHD kinda made me wonder if he got so mysteriously angry at Nicole Kidman because of something she may have done (at a Dr's diagnosis and recommendation) for herslef or fro one of their kids.

I had pretty much the exact same experience when i was 19, Except i was literally dragged to a building by a sidewalk questioner. Those zombies wouldn't let me leave and were actually grabbing me to keep me from walking out the door. I foolishly let them put me on their mailing list and 18 years later I still get hand-written notes from them wanting to save me.

Great minds think alike...see my post above! I am wondering if the scientology "natural remedy and attitude adjustment center" isn't actually giving the "believers" steroids and speed and calling them "vitamins?"

In the highest level of training "OT VIII" Hubbard supposedly reveals himself to be Lucifer the Anti-Christ And will be reincarnated as a powerful Politician. The COS denies this though.

Why do you presume steroids?

I wonder how much the Scientology people in Florida were pushing the euthanasia agenda in the Terri Schiavo case. You should know that the world headquarters for the "Church" of Scientology is in Clearwater, Florida.

It's a pity she's dead otherwise you could have started an additional rumour about michael schiavo that he is a scientologist.

Perhaps i'm wrong. After all, when you have to carry around an ego like his you're bound to gain a bit of muscle.

and you. I see no reason why you presume steroids.

If we want to speculate then perhaps he is a rapist too.

I know next to nothing about Scientology but I do know that even Tom Cruise has the RIGHT to practice any damn religion he wants to and for some writer from the Washington comPost to make fun of it is or should be a crime. If he did that to a practitioner of the religion of peace, he would be tarred and feathered

Making fun of a religion should be a crime? Oh my.

All that aside, if the writer made fun of, say, evangelical Christianity, he would not be tarred and feathered. In fact, he would be applauded by the press corps. As it is, taking scientologists with the skepticism they deserve is just about as "safe" as taking on muslims. He better watch his back.

I don't presume- I speculate. Just like most of Hollywood seems to speculate that he's light in the loafers.

He displays all the symptoms of both.

Enquiring minds and all that...

Probably. But I do get a little tired of some of the sanctimonious bast**ds deciding what someone is allowed to believe. If Tom Cruise thinks L. Ron Hubbard is a god, that is his business. As long it does not harm anyone, it is fine with me.BR>

I know what you mean, but since Tom Cruise is a very public figure, he's always going to be held up to ridicule, for just about anything that he does. Btw Scientology is not a religion, it's a cult. :)

Seriously, I have no idea. I read that snippet and found it very funny. It does appear to be accurate as to what they believe though from what I've been able to gather, which makes it more scary than funny.

I got it from a site that basically mocks celebs. There is nudity and profanity, if it bothers you.
