Supposedly some ET related stuff will be discovered in our era there.

Huh? According to whom? Here's Edgar Cayce's so-called readings regarding the Sphinx, taken from "Edgar Cayce On Atlantis" (Warner Books, 1968).

from page 146 -- It would be well if this entity were to seek either of the three phases of the ways and means in which those records of the activities of individuals were preserved -- the one in the Atlantean land, that sank, which will rise and is rising again; another in the place of the records that leadeth from the Sphinx to the hall of records, in the Egyptian land; and another in the Aryan or Yucatan land, where the temple there is overshadowing same. (2012-1; Sep 25, 1939)

page 146 -- ...the entity joined with those who were active in putting the records in forms that were partially of the old characters of the ancient or early Egyptian, and part in the newer form of the Atlanteans. These may be found, especially when the house or tomb of records is opened, in a few years from now. (2537-1; Jul 17, 1941)

page 147 -- ...[the entity] was among the first to set the records that are yet to be discovered or yet to be had of those activities in the Atlantean land, and for the preservation of data that is yet to be found from the chambers of the way between the Sphinx and the pyramid of records. (3575-2; Jan 20, 1944)

page 147-8 -- Q.2: Give in detail what the sealed room contains. A.2: A record of Atlantis from the beginning of those periods when the Spirit took form, or began the encasements in that land; and the developments of the peoples throughout their sojourn; together with the record of the first destruction, and the changes that took place in the land; with the record of the sojournings of the peoples and their varied activities in other lands, and a record of the meetings of all the nations or lands, for the activities in the destruction of Atlantis; and the building of the pyramid of initiation, together with whom, what, and where the opening of the records would come, that are as copies from the sunken Atlantis. For with the change, it [Atlantis] must rise again. In position, this lies -- as the sun rises from the waters -- as the line of the shadows (or light) falls between the paws of the Sphinx; that was set later as the sentinel or guard and which may not be entered from the connecting chambers from the Sphinx's right paw until the time has been fulfilled when the changes must be active in this sphere of man's experience. Then [it lies] between the Sphinx and the river. (378-16; Oct 29, 1933)

['Civ note: This is interesting, because the right paw (IOW, the one on the left as the Sphinx is viewed from the front) really is hollow, but hasn't been opened. That had not been discovered in Cayce's time. And that's about the extent of my interest in this]

I was aware of the Cayce stuff.

But I think it was another source and I don't recall what one.

Could have been UFO or some Native American sort of thing. I just don't recall. I've sort of expected something like that myself so I wasn't surprised though I haven't really put enormous faith in it.

I think it will somehow fit into Biblical end times deceptions, anyway.

We shall see.

Interesting, just wondering is this the first tomb that has ever been actually found there? According to http://www.s8int.com/page13.html "When the Arab Abdullah Al Mamoun finally forced his entry into the chamber in AD 820 - the first entry since the chamber was sealed in some long ago time - he found the coffer entirely empty. Egyptologists assume that this was the final resting place of Khufu, yet not the slightest evidence suggests that a corpse had ever been in this coffer or chamber. Nor have any embalming materials, any fragments of any article, or any clues whatsoever been found in the chamber or anywhere else in the entire pyramid that in any way indicates that Khufu (or anyone else) was ever buried there. ....It is a matter of archaeological fact that none of the fourth Dynasty kings put their names on the pyramids supposedly constructed in their times..." Are these facts true regrading not finding any trace of Khufu or anyone else ever being buried there , and if so is this the first coffin ever found at the site of the great pyramids?

Zahi Hawass must have the best job in the world.

I have seen him on several shows. He is quite a character and loves what he does. Wish I had a job like that.

Looks like a chess set. It's so deep it makes you wonder what else is buried around there.

sauropod: Wish I had a job like that.
I wish I did too, y'know, other than the constant risk of getting gunned down, or being purged by the gov't (he's been demoted and removed a couple of times due to intrigue). He sets the priorities, determines what gets dug, everything. He definitely exhibits enthusiasm and energy.
farmfriend: I can't stand that man. Drives me nuts to watch him.
I also agree with you. I regard Zahi "Zowie" Hawass as annoying, unscientific, and a transparent huckster.

for the "tinfoil hat" ping list: the middle link has the most, uh, information. I should point out that these images are entirely unsubstantiated.
