The invasion of Iraq occurred just as shooting for the film got underway in Malta.
"I couldn't believe it," 60-year-old Petersen told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. "I thought, it's as if nothing has changed in 3 000 years. People are still using deceit to engage in wars of vengeance."
While stressing that he "did not make this film with the intention of making an anti-American statement", Petersen said the parallels between the Trojan war and the Iraq war became more apparent daily during the filming.
"Just as King Agamemnon waged what was essentially a war of conquest on the ruse of trying to rescue the beautiful Helen from the hands of the Trojans, President George W Bush concealed his true motives for the invasion of Iraq." He added, "I wouldn't make a movie like Air Force One now," which showed how the Vietnam veteran US president personally piloted Air Force One to a safe landing after it was briefly hijacked by terrorists.

I don't know about you all. But as much as I wanted to see this one, I've decided to not support these unAmerican idiots. I knew that Brad Pitt was a radical classless lib. When I found out that the director made such stupid vapid comparisons between our president and Agamemnon, among other things, I decided not to go. If enough of us stand up and these idiots flop because of it, maybe we can make a difference. But difference or not I'm not going.

"I thought, it's as if nothing has changed in 3 000 years. People are still using deceit to engage in wars of vengeance." I'm reminded of an anecdote I once read about Hitler in his early days as a Nazi propagandist. He had just finished giving a speech and was walking away, down the street, when a young man came up from behind and accosted him. "Tell me," said the young man, "did they shit into your brain and forget to flush it?"

Darn -- this was one I was planning to see, too.

Now now, just because France couldn't wait to join Hitler's side in WWII is no reason to get snippy.
The French SS troopers actually showed some bravery - unlike most of their armed forces - and fought to the death for their fascist ideals.

Yawn...another must (not) see movie.

I can't even look at Brad Pitt, so no loss here for me. The director is showing how vapid he is, however. He has a surface understanding of events, but he's willing to spout off like he knows what he's talking about.
He added, "I wouldn't make a movie like Air Force One now,"
Well, good. That movie sucked.

Though "inspired" by The Illiad by Homer, the film makes no mention of Greek gods, distorting the entire Greek myth, the paper said. Amazing. The liberals are so anti-God that their revisionism has now extended to the pagan false gods...

don't bother to see it: Not because it was done by a PC crowd, but because the rumors on the fansites such as "ain't it cool" news say that it is a bomb, and not half as good as the previews...

He forgot the part about how the Trojan terrorists rowed two captured triremes into the Acropolis, sending it up in flames and killing everyone in it.
Hey, if he can make up history, I can make up history.
To: Rastus
They got the ending wrong, too: AF1 crashes into the sea, as I recall.

LOL..I wonder why the people that bucked up for this movie do not put a muzzle on the idiots involved in the movie so they can make their money back.
To: jonboy
Yeah this is a manly film. Watching a pretty boy Brad Pitt running around in a dress! Trust me the only film this summer that's worth a damn is
"Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" That movie looks too awesome!

I never wanted
to see it, so now I can
"boycott" the movie . . .
(But I have wondered
what was the final outcome
for the babe, Helen?
I know the Greeks win,
right, with the rabbit horse thing, but what
becomes of Helen?)
