Arsonist started Waterman Fire
Various News Sources | 10-26-03 | BonesMcCoy

In the past 48 hours Free Republic participants have been monitoring the spread and growth of the fires in the Southern California area.

In last nights fire watch thread it was noted that CHP began identifying arson as a cause of the various fires.

Here I reprint some prior messages put up on Free Republic.

Now, KCAL has a reporter who states that officials in San Bernardino County are looking for two white males who were spotted in a gray van sitting on Old Waterman Canyon Road. The observer noticed an object being thrown from the van into a field.

sure is... but there have been multiple descriptions... it may not be coordinated... or it might be.

This is starting to remind of the feelings I had when hearing about the sniper attacks in the Washington DC area.

Could very well be eco-terrorists. They hit San Diego in the last 2 months.

ELF with funding/help/coordination from Al-Qaeda, is what I'm thinking.

If they are working together, what is to say they're not planning something on the heels of this...

They're making it very hard to get OUT of the LA & San Diego areas. What if they then plan to give people a good reason to try to flee in panic?

I just have an awful feeling about this. Someone please pass the tinfoil...but then, is it really tinfoil time?

PHOENIX, Arizona — The FBI (search) alerted law enforcement agencies last month that an Al Qaeda (search) terrorist now in detention had talked of masterminding a plot to set a series of devastating forest fires around the western United States.

Thanks for that links and info

I don't trust that stuff. .....Remember we were all looking for "white guys" in "white van" while Malvo and Muhammad were driving around killing people in a blue Caprice.

This could be anyone -- ELF-types, Jihadists, or just some plain old pyromaniac nutballs. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

The Waterman arson fire and its devastating effects, were well coordinated by the arsonist. Timed just when the Santa Anas began blowing through the pass and aimed right at a community. Responding fire units had no time and no chance to save the community. These suspects should also be investigated for the Grand Prix fire, which theoritically could have been a test run for the Waterman.
