The family of Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) does not plan to invite President Donald Trump to the senator’s funeral when the time comes, according to a New York Times report.
McCain and Trump have long had a contentious relationship, including Trump slamming McCain and insisting he was not a war hero during his 2016 campaign.
“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said back then, referring to the former prisoner of war. “He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”
The relationship did not get better after Trump was elected, particularly after Trump mocked McCain after he voted against a key Obamacare repeal.
According to NBC, it is McCain’s wish that Trump not attend....

I’m sure President Trump has something more important to do, like drop a deuce and then flush it.
If I were Trump, I would order Pence not to attend. I would send a POW or one of McCain’s ex wives.

That was back when most FReepers still believed that there would be a short, but victorious, civil war with minimal bloodshed and would just basically be a bunch of people marching to DC and then the government agreeing that it had gone too far. Those were very naive days around here.
Presidents don’t attend funerals of Senators.
And, apparently, it’s optional for VPs to attend.
Protocol rules in such matters.
Found this tidbit from Wellstone’s death:

UNDENIABLY McCain gathered at least ten percent MORE votes because Palin was on the ticket-—still, he lost, and his dishonest supporters blamed her for taking 10 percent AWAY from him, causing him and his ticket to lose. That shows you who THEY are, all you need to know about them.

Can’t help it. I’ve always despised him. When he was running for Prez a friend called me and said she had went and picked up yard signs and wanted to know if I wanted one. Hell no!!!!
I couldn’t bring myself to vote for him. I know everyone said they voted for Palin but VP has no power and makes no difference. I just couldn’t make that mark next to his name. Evil is evil.
