Why Democrats cant really crow about the presidents declining approval numbers.
Ever since Inauguration Day, the publics faith in the president has been eroding. According to the latest Gallup surveys, only about 38 percent of Americans approve of Trumps performance, which is down roughly 5 points from February. Voxs own polling, conducted in partnership with SurveyMonkey, shows a similar drop from 46 percent at the outset of his term to 41 percent in July.
For the presidents critics, these slipping approval numbers seem like vindication. They show that Americans arent blind to the disorder in the White House that at least some Trump supporters are second-guessing their president.
But what does this mean in practical terms? American politics, by design, has never perfectly followed public opinion. After all, Trump never had a majority of Americans rooting for him. He won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote. Whats important isnt his popularity nationwide but his approval rate in key parts of the country.
Democrats, for one, hope that the growing disenchantment with the president will translate into congressional victories come 2018. But according to an analysis of more than 50,000 respondents of Vox/SurveyMonkey polling, the prospects of a midterm Democratic surge still look shaky.
Most of the decline in Trump approval, it turns out, occurred in congressional districts that are already solidly red or solidly blue. In the closest Republican districts, opinions of the president havent budged at all over the past six months. Overall, Americans may be growing weary of Trumps chaotic administration but it seems the Americans who will matter the most politically next year have yet to change their minds.
Close Republican districts are an anomaly
Over the past six months, Vox and SurveyMonkey have been polling Americans about their opinions....

Low approval numbers for Trump are made up fake polls.
The media and Congress are pathetic.
Nobody buying their crap anymore.
What’s the support for the Democrats? It’s even lower.
Fake democrat news
Lessons of the primary season - fake/made-up/manipulated polls. Pollsters who are interested in shaping public opinion, not accurately reporting it. Corrupt media.
Remember them.
GOD HELP THE DEEP SEWER IF THEY TRY TO GET OUR PRESIDENT OUT OF OFFICE!!! Civil war II with ammo!!!
We need to puck up some Democrat Senate seats!
We need to dump the Amnesty Senators in 2018
Corker, Hatch and Flake all voted for Rubio’s amnesty
Cantorize them or they WILL vote for another amnesty
It very likely higher since these clowns like to skew their fake polls against Trump.
And Congress is at 14%.
They only thing to learn from this article is that after a year of merciless and unprecedented negative reporting, Trump is still likely to win re-election.
Those not all in for Trump lost. Think Heck/Ayotte. 2 more elections. Heller is looking at the same thing. We will have to make up those loses in red states.
C’mon 2018. More Americans are becoming informed. HOORAY Americans.

Subjective polls (e.g. Approval) have notoriously bad samples...over-sampling in easy to reach blue urban areas and under-sampling rural areas. This is because it’s much cheaper and there is no accuracy test for the results, like there would be in a presidential election. These are just noise at this point, pushing forward the agenda of the paying customer who initiated the poll.
Prior to November election, I was being polled 3-5 times a week...on a landline.
Since election: NOT ONE SINGLE CALL....These ‘polls’ are garbage. Someone is paying for phony data.
Give Vox credit where it counts, for running this story, even though they are massively left-wing.
So, good new for Trump. His hard-core supporters (like me) are holding tight. We have yet to be given a reason to dislike him...if anything, we only like him more (think Gorsuch, or real-men in the military, for example).
