When exactly did he enlarge the list from 11 to 21? Would it satisfy you if Trump adds Cruz to the list and then selects him from that modified list?

I don’t think Trump ever claimed the list was exhaustive and it would be hard to argue that Cruz is unqualified.
Further, Cruz could sit on that court for the next 40 years.
Finally, there are Senators who might otherwise oppose Trump’s first (only?) nominee because of Garland but who would probably let this one slip through just to get Cruz out of the Senate.
Yeah, I know some Freepers here still don’t like him from the campaign but it would be a good move on Trump’s part.
Cruz has an excellent legal background, arguing cases for conservative causes, several before the Supreme Court. He started his legal career as a clerk for Chief Justice Rehnquist.
My guess is that SCOTUS justice would be Cruz's lifetime dream. Plus, the Senate may wish to confirm him to the SCOTUS only to get rid of what to many of them, in both parties, is an annoyance, if not a menace within.
As to his not being on Trump's "list", remember that the two of them had been bitter rivals in the Republican primary process, and now things seem to be simmering down between them. In fact, Cruz's endorsement of Trump weeks before the election could possibly be considered a play on his part for a SCOTUS seat.
Nonsense. Ted Cruz is completely ideologically compatible with Trump's potential nominee list, and President Trump going "off the board" and selecting Ted Cruz in this instance would be a perfectly appropriate.
