Hillary Clintons lead in Michigan, regarded as a strong state for the Democratic nominee, is slipping.
Clinton is ahead of Donald Trump, 38-35 percent, in a new Detroit Free Press/WXYZ poll. Michigan has voted Democratic in every presidential election since 1992. Libertarian Gary Johnson had 10 percent support, while the Green Partys Jill Stein had 4 percent.
Trumps gains have included white voters and men. Clinton was ahead by 2 last month while Trump now is ahead by 8. Clinton had a slight edge among men in August, but Trump is now up 5. Her backing in union households was down 8 points, while Trumps was up 8.
Clinton also plunged with 18 to 34 year old voters. Her 24 point lead has shrunk to 7....

Johnson-Weld, for anyone considering dating Lorena Bobbitt.
I think CNN deliberately cut out the section showing her stumble.
That was a disappointing story under a tantalizing headline.
I remember back in 2008, Duncan Hunter was campaigning in the MI primary. He gave a great speech about jobs. He spoke about trade deals. He spoke about exporting jobs overseas. He spoke about immigration policies. He spoke about taxes and regulations. Hunter explained to the people of Michigan (and elsewhere) that the economy suffers because dumb politicians enact dumb policies. He explained that he could fix it.
Hunter got about 3% in the MI primary.
Maybe Michigan is wising up. Because Trump knows how to fix the economy. Hillary will do the same bang-up job as all the other establishment pols.

Any pool for when Trump nationally tops 50%?
The Michigan electorate is something like 80%-85% non-Hispanic White, and full of conservatives (unlike New England) - this state was always in play for Republicans, but they were TOO STUPID to even try there. But the Dems knew all along that Trump’s message was always PERFECT FOR MICHIGAN (and other Rust Belt states). That’s why they went into an ABSOLUTE PANIC when Trump announced and then formulated his campaign to address their needs.
About the only thing that I’m surprised about is that it took this long to start showing up in the polling...but now, yes, even Michigan will be a red state, at least this year.
Here’s the great thing about states like Michigan that were considered sure things but now have Trump neck-and-neck with Hillary even if she has a couple of points lead: Hillary now has to spend time, money, and energy in trying not to let her slender lead slip even more. Colorado is another perfect example of such a state that looked overwhelming safe for Hillary just a few weeks ago, but now shows a lead for Trump.
Myself and others here predicted several months ago that this is exactly what was going to happen, namely that Trump’s popularity was going to force Hillary to spread her precious resources amongst many states that should have been safe for her.
“Any pool for when Trump nationally tops 50%?”
maybe you could interest predictit.com to start one.
She's going to be left hungry.
Johnson-Weld... Is that a person or a product?
Nationally? Next week.
Sounds like a product developed for John Bobbitt.
Michigan is a working-man and hunting state.
He should go on about Hillary’s gun grabbing policies, along with how he can bring back jobs.
I agree. Will need more popcorn for the show.
Any pool for when Trump nationally tops 50%?
No The media will not report on it when it happens. Only a few days before the election will the real poll results be released.
Michigan has 83 counties, and roughly 7 of them determine the vote in federal elections.
What most people don’t know is that Michigan has a huge free traitor republican contingent. Plenty of RINOs are in bed with the chinese there, and pass domestic technology to them for production.
The republicans in Michigan are of the YEB!/Cruz scorched earth globalist variety. They would rather destroy all of industry than give up their influence of the global outsourcing/offshoring markets.
This is why they will back hitlery. They have much more in common with the progressive free traders than they do with the Trump “Make America Great Again” crowd.
I see Michigan a bit differently.
Heavily Democratic Detroit has lost three quarters of its population in the past fifty years.
Meanwhile the Democratic and Republican establishment have signed trade agreements crushing Michigan industry and jobs.
Don’t be shocked if Trump wins the state.
