A national poll out Thursday shows Hillary Clinton ahead of Donald Trump by double-digits. The poll also breaks down support by religion and finds that white Protestants are Trump’s most supportive demographic.

The Public Religion Research Institute found that Clinton leads nationwide among registered voters with 48 percent, Trump follows with 35 percent and two percent backed Libertarian Gary Johnson. This poll, unlike others, broke down support for each candidate by registered voters’ religious preferences.

Trump’s support is strongest among white evangelical Protestants. Sixty-two percent of them back Trump and 23 percent support Clinton. Trump also leads among white mainline Protestants with 47 percent. Clinton follows at 37 percent.

Clinton leads with every other religious group polled — Catholics, black Protestants, and “unaffiliated.” PRRI did not poll Jews or Muslims....

That's where I got my numbers.

And it reflects the results in 2008 and 2012.

The article is talking about a more recent poll.

Their numbers are worse for Trump.

“Over it is bad that is why white Protestants are no longer represented on the Supreme Court. The founding fathers are rolling in their graves.”

Was that a requirement the founding fathers and framers placed in the Constitution?

There are an awful lot of Hindus, Mormons, Amish/Mennonites, etc. in this country.

The polled voters were registered voters. Poll is junk and the demographics leave a lot to be desired.

No of course not. But they would have never imagined a Supreme Court not being made up primarily of White Protestants. Colonists and the early generations of people in America had fled from religious persecution from the Catholic Church and state churches demanding strict denominational obedience to what were capricious whims of men. At this point in American culture we are so far gone that being a Protestant Christian would more likely get one disqualified as being unfit due to some twisted pretzel logic about church and state separation which isn’t in the Constitution. But then in today’s America the people wouldn’t know the 10 Amendments to the Bill of Rights nor Marx’s ten planks of communism but they would have Marx’s planks memorized internally agreeing.

Amish/Mennonites are (mainly white) protestants. Really! So are Seventh-Day Adventists.
,
Some Mormons claim to be protestants. Not!

These 23 percent of while “evangelical” Democrats are killing the USA.

That was then. What about now—and especially what about Labor Day?

I sincerely hope that the “low information voters” don’t remain in that category!!!!

Trump won’t win unless he makes inroads with women and minority voters. Getting 2/3 of the white vote isn’t enough.

“Over it is bad that is why white Protestants are no longer represented on the Supreme Court. The founding fathers are rolling in their graves.”

I blame all the non-white Jewish and Catholic presidents and their nutty nominations myself.
