I hate Donald Trump. But he might get my vote.
The Washington Post ^ | June 28, 2016 | Jim Ruth

No Trump campaign buttons or bumper stickers for me. I’m part of the new silent majority: those who don’t like Donald Trump but might vote for him anyway. For many of us, Trump has only one redeeming quality: He isn’t Hillary Clinton. He doesn’t want to turn the United States into a politically correct, free-milk-and-cookies, European-style social democracy where every kid (and adult, too) gets a trophy just for showing up.

Members of this new silent majority, many of us front-wave baby boomers, value hard work and love the United States the way it was. We long for a bygone era when you didn’t need “safe spaces” on college campuses to shelter students from the atrocity of dissenting opinions, lest their sensibilities be offended. We have the reckless notion that college is the one place where sensibilities are supposed to be challenged and debated. Silly us....

The author doesn’t like Trump because he is a bully.

It's called Beta Boy Syndrome. ; )

I trust Hillary more than Trump.
I trust her to nominate activist Supreme Court judges that will seek to overturn the Constitution.
I trust her to put her pocketbook ahead of the welfare of this nation.
I trust her to put the security of this nation on the backburner.
I trust her to continue to be the most corrupt politician in the 21st Century.
I might have a few problems with Trump, but with Trump, we have hope. I believe he wants what is best for America.
With Clinton, all I can see is despair, turmoil.
Talked to my oldest grandson. He told me “vote for Trump, Grandad, I want a future”.
I won’t let my grandson down.

That majority of Republicans don’t want Trump. That majority voted for someone else.

Trump fans need to be a bit more gracious toward potential voters, rather than tell them to bug off. That is the only way they’ll get the vote out for Trump.

Your asshat comment is no way to garner votes for Trump.

Honey, not vinegar.

100 years from now listing Mike Meyer’s “Pentavirate” as part of the Hitler government will raise no eyebrows.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKRFlNryaWw

Next time you run into someone who thinks he knows history, throw this at ‘em:

Edward the Confessor was

(a) William the Conqueror’s priest.
(b) The Duke of Normandy’s cousin.
(c) Author of the Magna Carta.
(d) None of the above.

Bonus points if they know which two people mentioned above...weren’t two people at all.

History education is lamentably rare.

Nothing the author says in the article justifies his alleged “hate” for Donald Trump. He disdains political correctness and the biased media, just like Donald.

But of course you can’t write one of these articles for the Washington Compost without the obligatory “Trump is a no good bully, but ...”.

I am not predicting a Trump win, but like the author and many on Free Republic, I have been shocked by die hard liberal democrats who say Trump “makes a lot of sense”.

Bernie Sanders wrote an anti-global elite article in the NYT which had the obligatory Trump is no good language, but otherwise 90 percent of it was identical to the speeches Trump gives every day.

Anybody who votes for Hillary deserves to be in prison with her. Is that gracious enough for you?

I certainly don't feel like I have to suck up to somebody just to keep them from voting away our Constitution.

On some other forums I have seen pro-gunners adopting a new argument when dealing with gun control. "F**k you!"

Like them I am weary of trying to explain where the Second Amendment came from. It was a direct result of a government attempt to confiscate arms at Lexington and Concord.

Anybody who would consider voting for Hillary deserves to hear the same argument.

What is the price of this honey you think you are entitled? Given the cost to this nation Republicans have helped charge, I do believe we Americans are entitled to know up front what you Republicans demand in tribute to do the right thing.

Yet Trump won the primary by a large number of votes. No other candidate was even close. Possibly those that supported other candidates need to be a bit more gracious to Trump supporters as well.

I say that without sarcasm and as someone who was not always a Trump supporter.

Brilliant and true description of today’s liberal college students...

Amazing isn’t it? This is not about “them” or “us” or Trump supporters being gracious or not to those that supported others in the primary. It is all about attempting to save our country from complete ruin. That seems lost on some people.

I am so tired of those that say if a Trump supporter is mean to them they won’t vote for him. As if Trump controls the actions of all his supporters and as if a tantrum that elects Hillary would be fine with them.

I don't hate Trump. And he won't get my vote. We survived Jimmuh Cahter. We'll survive Shrillery.

No we won’t. She legalize 50 million new socialist voters who Obama has conveniently already spread through out the country. The GOP will be a dead party in 4 years if she wins.

You're a fool, we will not survive Hillary. Hillary will radicalize the Supreme court. The republic will not survive that. Hillary will make citizens of 15 million illegals. The republic will not survive that. Hillary will add trillions more to our 20 trillion national debt. The republic will not survive that. Go ahead support Hillary, but do not kid yourself into republic will be OK under president Hillary it won't be OK.

Heck, just 8 years of Obama might have doomed us. Which is why I voted for Romney despite hating the man and his crap religion.

caveat emptor said: "We survived Jimmuh Cahter. We'll survive Shrillery. "

You call this surviving? Twenty trillion in nation debt and growing? Babies being murdered by their mothers? Bakers being forced to bake wedding cakes for homosexuals? Anti-gun Democrats staging sit-ins in the House of Representatives?

We didn't survive Jimmy Carter any more than the Soviets survived Joe Stalin.

If Hillary wins, my grandchildren will be enslaved by her Supreme Court.
