Too late Donald pretty much sealed the deal with the GOP voters today. Next Tuesday is D Day.

It would not surprise me. The only thing that surprises me about Cruz is how many people buy the antiestablishment outsider nonsense he peddles when his resume and circumstances scream establishment elite.

Well said!

FR has become almost unreadable to me over the last month. As a Cruz guy, I like Trump and what he has done, and I can see reasons why a rational conservative might prefer him to Cruz. But this infantile nonsense of calling Cruz an establishment guy, after he became a pariah in the Senate, is patently ridiculous. And the maniacal fascination with Mrs. Cruz’ former association with GS, while ignoring Trump’s former associations, is hats-on-backwards stupid.

Having said that, I don’t fear a Trump presidency, and would crawl over broken glass to vote for him over Hillary. My fear is that the opposition Trump has faced so far, rather disjointed and half-hearted attacks until recently, is nothing like what he will face in the general when he goes against a united Democrat party/MSM machine. Hopefully he will beat Hillary like a rented mule, but I am far less sanguine than the Trumpbois here.

yes, and THAT explains maybe at least half of his wide voter support, too

the public is so dammed sick of the O attack-USA policies... and the GOP-E protecting, supporting, enabling him do it to us

sick of it!

What a liberal thing to do... Urge things done with other people’s money.

Though of course, this has already been considered and rightly dismissed as being counter productive. Not only would it likely drive more people to the polls to vote for Trump in the primary, it would be a standing endorsement for Trump come time for the general election.

Remember, more than a few influential people have already floated the idea that Hillary would be far more acceptable than Trump.

Simple desperation, I think. We’ve all been shafted for so long, people become desperate and gullible.

The fact that they kept it a secret (without even a hint of a leak) is significant, as if they knew they were handling political dynamite.

Good observation! An organization that can actually keep a secret if more than two people know about it! What a concept! And if Sundance’s analysis it correct, there are a lot of wet pants in GOPeedom tonight! :-)

No need to recruit him, Cruz has always been establishment elite.

What the hell are you smokin'? You might dislike Cruz, but he certainly isn't 'establishment'. Wake up, it's the establishment elites that hate his guts.

“this infantile nonsense of calling Cruz an establishment guy”

I used to agree with you that it was infantile - until I read that Cruz said, last night, that if he gets out of the race, he’d fall in with Rubio. Talk about gold-plated establishment.

It’s posts like this that really disgust me.

Cruz is just about the only senator in 100 years that has walked in as a freshman and immediately taken on the leadership.

But, like a leftist, far too many Trump supporters will make a public statement like yours that is the direct opposite of the observable facts. Truth be damned - rational analysis be damned - just throw any old turd, repeatedly, and hope it sticks.

Well I think Trump is probably going to win. And I suspect he is pulling a Jimmy Carter. And every time he sticks it to us I’m going to mock you and others who posted like you on this forum for the next 20 years - assuming there is still a United States by then.

If Trump turns out to be a great president - you can return the favor.

OH so you, the noob, are disgusted???

Cruz is just about the only senator in 100 years that has walked in as a freshman and immediately taken on the leadership. Oh is that a fact? What else do you know about Cruz who just supported Rubio, the GOPe Uniparty candidate, for President if he (Cruz) does not win?

Got Arrogance? Got Stereotyping? So you, the noob are going to mock us???

Sybeck1 has been here 11 years before you, yet you are disgusted by his post?!?! No idea why...a pretty benign post if you ask me.

Wow....What chutzpah...how condescending and stereotypical of you to call any Trump supporter a leftist...especially since you just got here.

Does your leftist description apply to Sarah Palin? Jerry Falwell Junior? Willie Robertson=Duck Dynasty, Pat Robertson Christian News Network? Pastor Jeffrees Baptist Church in Austin TX? Sheriff Joe A. in Arizona? Phyllis Schlafly? Chris Christie??? If they are leftist for supporting Trump, then I and many of us here are in good company.

Just so you know, the OWNer of the site has said that although he supports Ted Cruz as first choice, he will support Trump if Cruz does not get the nomination. He understands that many here are supporting Trump as a first choice and we are not leftists...

You state: every time he sticks it to us I’m going to mock you and others who posted like you on this forum for the next 20 years. Wow...pretty arrogant of a noob like you...

FYI, noob, this forum has been around long before you were here...and though we have our differences during election cycles...no one here is leftist, we are all just wanting what is best for the country and will come together either for the election or after...Mocking Freepers for 20 years after the election???? Seriously?! If you mean that, with all due respect, I suggest that either you get off your high horse, or you find another place to spew your viriol.

The article here reveals they did find a way to make the DOJ follow the law in regards to sanctuary cities.

The congressman from Texas found in documents he had the power of the purse and told the DOJ their budget would be cut if they did not follow the law.

Also here is a video on how he used this power of the purse to uphold the second amendment.

Right. Cruz is Princeton and Harvard Law educated. He clerked for the SCOTUS Chief Justice after law school. He has been at the highest levels of the GOP since 1999. He has been in the highest levels of the party for over 2/3 of his post school life. He is a sitting Senator. His wife is a former Bush admin official, CFR member and is now an executive at Goldman Sachs. I honestly do not see how somebody could be more thoroughly establishment than Cruz is. This guy has been being prepared for a spot in the establishment elite since he was a kid. I suspect that only reason his fellow establishment guys are angry with him is because he is too ambitious to wait his turn. How anybody can believe somebody with Cruz’s experience and circumstances is an outsider is beyond my understanding. I could not write a better description of the ultimate insider GOP establishment elite if I tried.

I see Trump and Cruz as roughly equal threats to the establishment and the traditional GOP.

Cruz let the cat out of the bag in his post debate interview with Jake Tapper. Cruz said that his "friend" Marco and him are more qualified to be President. He essentially endorsed Rubio over Trump. Cruz also mentioned that he had spoken to Jeb a few days ago saying it was a shame he was not on the stage with him since he was the only one who took on Trump with him.

If we get to a brokered convention Cruz will go with Rubio. Cruz is part of the club. He is not an outsider.

The GOP decides who does what, and only those who kiss the ring get a turn at throwing their hat In, on any level, from dogcatcher to president.

Well, now the power brokers are bypassed, curses, this cannot stand.

They would rather lose the presidency and keep their power than take the presidency and lose the ability to wield and disseminate power as they see fit.

Cruz and Rubio are working from inside that power perimeter, to the ends of their leashes.

Trump threatens the very cor3e.

How can they allow this, this upstart just walk in and get his way?

I think you need to wake up. What about the Corker Bill? What about enabling TPP because of TpA? What about the Iran Treaty Deal? what about being absent for the vote on Audit the Fed? He always votes with Obama. I call that Establishment. His RECORD shows what he is. Can’t trust what he says and besides that he is not a NBC.
