Donald Trump insists his second-place showing in Mondayâs Iowa caucus isnât bad, but perception among his fellow Republicans that he will be the partyâs presidential nominee has fallen sharply this week.
Rasmussen Reportsâ latest weekly Trump Change survey finds that most Likely Republican Voters (61%) still believe Trump is likely to be the GOP nominee, but thatâs down from a high of 74% a week ago. Even more noticeably, the overall finding includes only 24% who think Trump is Very Likely to win the nomination, down from a high of 40% two weeks ago.
Thirty-six percent (36%) say Trump is unlikely to be the eventual nominee, with 14% who say itâs Not At All Likely. This compares to 22% and six percent (6%) respectively a week ago. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
This marks the lowest level of confidence among Republicans in Trumpâs nomination since mid-November before the terrorist attacks in Paris. Following that incident, belief in Trump as the likely nominee climbed into the 60s and has steadily increased since then.
When Trump announced his candidacy in mid-June of last year, however, just 27% of Republicans â and 23% of all voters â said he was likely to end up as the 2016 GOP nominee.
Among all likely voters, 52% think Trump will win the Republican nomination this year, down from 63% last week, the highest level of expectation since Rasmussen Reports began the weekly Trump Change survey last August...

When he starts winning those polls will change as well.
First time at bat, takes second against a career politician. Whatever.
Donald’after hours Twitter Wars with paparazzi and Saudi Princes, his trashing of Cruz vs any Democrat nominee, and his speeches full of F-Bombs are making some reconsider his fitness for the top job.
That’s VERY true and when was the last time that Rasmussen had a correct poll?
PS "Baby" is just a term meaning friends :-))
Most world leaders are closer to John Gotti than they are to Jesus Christ. We don’t need a Mr Milktoast as President, again. America needs a strong leader that will stand up to the bullies.
Trump has trashed & bashed, using facts, Obama, Hillary and Bernie for months now; though yes, he only added Bernie recently.
The public perception of Trump is changing from Winner to “Show me a sore loser, and I’ll show you a loser.”
If Rubio beats him in New Hampshire and Trump throws a tantrum, his campaign will go into a sudden death spiral.
Rueters per Drudge Trump 39.2 percent first place, second place 16 percent.

Look at that trend line, doesn’t look like the people care about the shady results out of IOWA. The winner is tainted because of the way he won. Ted Millhouse Cruz won DIRTY and UGLY. Poor DOC CARSON was robbed.
3 days till New Hampshire.
Trump has never held elective office, but he is a career politician.
People are waking up to the fact that Trump is part of the Establishment Left.
Trump is the one who said polls are so important.
If Rubio wins then the country goes in a death spiral. Because between him and Hillary/Bernie, it becomes a moot point.
SHAMNESTY RUBIO won’t beat Trump in N.H. !
Yeah but that was when he was winning.
He can't beat the Dem nominee, no matter WHO it may be.
And the GOPEers are pushing him and they don't care if he loses. As a matter of fact, they are probably hoping that the Dem wins the presidency.
N.H. has changed a LOT, since I was in college there, but I find it hard to believe that they would vote for Teddy now.
