Trump’s Iowa loss definitely had an effect on the perception people have of him, at least somewhat.

He likes to brag that winning is his thing, the polls had him winning (yes, they are sometimes wrong), but ‘on paper’ it cleary looked as though he should win, perhaps even significantly.

He also overestimated his own ground game while underestimating Cruz’s.

Cruz had Trump on defense in the final weeks, particularly the last one, as well Cruz convinced many late deciders that he was the better choice.

Actually, no. Donald is a potential politician. At this time, he is a CANDIDATE who happens to sit in the driver's seat! ALL of the others, with the exception of Dr. Carson, are PROFESSIONAL trough-feeders! The fact that he got second highest vote total is due to the reaction by so many voters (or potential voters).

The best thing is his business acumen, and the fact that he is not just another lawyer! That he also says the things people have been waiting to hear tells more than anything. He gets the crowds. The crowds get him!

Trump needs to press the issues that got him in a good position.

Everybody should read this link. The most disturbing account is the woman who said she was told by someone handing out ballots that Carson was dropping out and spread the rumor. Anywhere I've lived, someone handing out ballots should not be communicating with campaign staff.

It's not a small issue. It goes to the character of Cruz's campaign staff and "win at all costs" being accepted behavior. What folks are voting against this year is politics as usual.
