Trump's Debate Boycott Throws Fox News Into Chaos
New York Magazine ^ | January 27, 2016 | Gabriel Sherman

Posted on 01/27/2016 12:51:33 AM PST by monkapotamus

Trump said he would host his own Iowa town hall to raise money for veterans and let other networks cover it. One clear sign of the gravity of tonight's development is the sense of confusion that is swirling throughout Fox. The network is split between Kelly's allies like Brit Hume and conservative anchors that are furious that Kelly - who graces the cover of Vanity Fair this month - has become the face of the network. An anchor fumed that Kelly hosted Michael Moore on her program tonight and the lefty filmmaker defended her against Trump. "That would be like Rachel Maddow laughing along with Charles Koch as he trashed Hillary Clinton!" the anchor said. One producer speculated that Fox could go "National Review" on Trump and start attacking him...

No matter how loudly GOP candidates complained about Fox's loutish politics in private, none risked taking Ailes on in public for fear of losing access to this crucial constituency - until Trump, that is. Even if Trump's boycott backfires, he's already achieved a historic victory: Exploding the myth that a Republican candidate can't openly challenge Fox.

“No, I was right there, commenting like others on the debate thread during it. Cruz made Trump look like an idiot, and if Ted wasn’t such a gentleman, could of made it even worse.”

Ted Cruz embarrassed himself by getting caught in his lies, claiming the natural born citizen controversy was required the parents of a natural born citizen to also be natural born citizens. It is impossible for the parents to always be natural born citizens to confer natural born citizenship, because the first generation of parents cannot possibly be natural born citizens. Ted Cruz also destroyed his own credibility in a number of other ways without any need for Trump to say anything, especially with his not to be believed claims the loans and his Canadian citizenship were oversights. It simply is not possible for an attorney-at-law of his reputation to fail to notice his birth certificate made him a Canadian citizen.

The bs that “FOXNews is right wing”- has been a carnie/pimp ploy since it’s inception.

That you don’t know that, or pretend- is boring.

Is it true that Rupert Murdoch turned the Fox Network over to his two leftist sons back in July 2015? And the two Liberals are turning Fox around?

What happened to "We Report, You Decide?" Looks like Fox is "helping" you to decide with their biased reporting. They are joining the Democrat leaning MSM, it seems.

Cruz challenges Trump to one-on-one debate

..."This is a job interview, you need to be willing to answer the questions of the American people, and if Donald is afraid to defend his record, that speaks volumes," [Cruz] said.......

Trump been in 6 debates with Cruz. If Cruz hasn't chewed him up by now, he won't on the 7th

You have been watching the debates haven't you? Cruz waited until attached to attach (the last debate). He did chew Trump up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPY_Iw9wvPQ

The only section that Trump had any light was when he tried to defend NY values as normal.

Only have it proven later that Trump knows NY values are different from the rest of the country.

I just don’t see the grounds for chaos. Shuffle the chairs or podiums, and carry on. Rand Paul sat out a debate, just do the same thing with this one.

Trump is taking on the big ideological entities that have embedded themselves inside the body politics. The huge attention he has been able to receive gives him the ability to expose those adverse interests both outside and inside our borders. He intends on tearing down the machine, all of it.

He will work like a skilled surgeon, cutting out the infected tissue, and shining the laser light on all that has adversely affected America’s success—and survival. It means battling against the entire GOPe apparatus, on every single level of its construct. It also means battling the monolithic media empire that sustains the disease. In many ways Fox’s Roger Ailes and Republican Mitch McConnell carry the same ideological symptom, deception. He is pulling away the curtain to the deceivers who talk the talk but work behind the scenes to do the opposite. He knows the game because he has dealt with the enemies of America in order to make a successful business empire.

Trump is not just battling the progressive ideology that has undermined the essence of American exceptionalism, he is exposing the immense number of faux-conservatives in media and political punditry. Trump is exposing for us the scope of anti-American interest and the very selfish foundation they’ve used to sell out our country. We are only just beginning to understand the enormity and scope of the previously hidden betrayal.

Trump’s success gives America back to its great citizens who have had their nation stolen by deceivers, liars and thieves for decades.

His son is now the CEO but Rupert took the position of “executive chairman”. He is not going anywhere.

The article makes it sound like Ailes will be the one leaving soon.

Save your lies for someone that hasn't followed this. Cruz said that some of the more extreme birthers think that, not that he does.

The main reason is Cruz chews him up...

Smartest thing the "smartest guy in the room" could do is welcome this opportunity to show his leadership compared to the others when Trump isn't on stage.

JMHO

Using that logic, 70% of the Republicans are part of the establishment. All of the Independents and Democrats are part of the establishment. Only Trump is a “true conservative” even though he redefines what that is based on his feelings at the moment as to what will play with the current news cycle to get him attention. Meanwhile, he’s bugging out. He got scared. He’s running for his safe zone, like a college liberal. His inner Democrat has come out and it’s funny to watch. Run, Trump, run. Run away from the big meanie Megyn. She’s too mean for the Trump.

I would think that Trump’s opponents on the ballot are delighted at this move by Trump. Gives them more space to make their points (unrebutted), including painting Trump as a lightweight. Having Trump off the stage is a windfall, is it not?

I think a level playing field is one thing, but why debate if you’re the leader, and the moderator is out to make you look bad? I think you go with you gut. It’s a win win for Trump.

I say the idea of a town hall is some obscure place in Iowa is great.
