Trump Boosted By Midwest Democratic Party-Switchers, So Racism, Sneers NY Times
Brietbart's Big Government ^ | January 3, 2016 | Mike Flynn

New York real-estate developer Donald Trump has dominated the Republican nomination campaign for months -- but his strongest support doesn't come from any of the organized blocs in the Republican party.

He polls well among conservative and evangelical voters, to be sure, running competitively against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) with these voters. He draws considerable support, also, from self-identified "liberal"or "moderate" Republicans. In fact, in the latest Quinnipiac poll, his biggest polling margin against his GOP rivals was among moderate and liberal Republicans.

But his strongest support comes from Republicans who used to be Democrats, according to new polling analysis by Democrat data firm Civis Analytics.

And those party-switching Americans -- if they register and turn up at the 2016 polls, especially in swing-state mid-western states -- could transform American politics in 2016. That's because the GOP candidate needs to sweep the mid-western states -- plus win Florida -- to reach the critical total of 270 electoral votes....

Old enough to vote for him — in fact, I voted for him in ‘76. So close, but yet so far.

In 1976, I was living in California. In 1980, I’d moved back to New York and I was making calls every day for Reagan, either at the county Republican headquarters or at the Conservative Party campaign office.

Yes, I volunteered and did everything I could. I was also in YAF at the time (on the NY State Board), and I had the honor of being in the convention hall in Detroit for three of the four nights. I saw him get nominated.

I worked on his campaign in '80 too, but in Chicago.

Perhaps you weren't getting the Dem crossovers, in N.Y., in the primary that we were. *shrugs*

And before you ask, how I knew who the Dems changing their party affiliation were, I knew quite a lot of the people who did so....the "limousine libbies" from THE GOLD COAST/LSD.

The ones I know here in the heartland that are making the switch could best be described as college educated “ rednecks”. ;-)

Well, in fairness, New York has closed primaries. But we didn’t see a great number of Democrats coming to help in the primaries. I knew young conservative activists around the country. None of them talked about seeing a lot of Democrats during the primaries. The general was a different issue.

Democrats helped get Romney nominated. Democrats got Thad Cochran nominated in a blatant act of theft against Chris McDaniel. Democrats voting in Republican primaries are usually not a good influence. They vote for a Republican they think they can beat.

How do we get those people back? With a strong dose of Reaganesque conservatism.

Those people never went back to the democrats. Some 40% of Michigan union members already vote republican so they aren't anything new. The remaining union members are full on marxists and are completely useless.

The fact that union members only make up some 12% of the workforce here and around 3% of the total population. Pandering to that fraction is likely to cost more votes than it will gain.

We haven't forgotten the union trying to seize control of our constitutional amendment process. We haven't forgotten their ongoing demands that taxpayers support their "generous" pension programs. We haven't forgotten them leading the raise the wage protests for burger flippers.

If you want a republican in the White House, then you better vote Trump. If your gonna vote who is the most pure and unblemished conservative, your gonna be sad and disappointed in November!

Hammer & nail. What you said.

Nominate ANYONE else but TRUMP for the loss.

Make the GOPEE happy, and lose to Hillary. It’s your patriotic duty to GOD and country to lose a couple of blue states to get it done to save the Establishment. /s

That’s odd.

Don’t recall the Times criticising Obama back in 2008 for appealing to black voters because he’s black.

How racist of them.

I wasn't talking about recent times; just the first Reagan primaries and election.

N.Y. is a different animal, than Ill. and back then, Reagan was a "son of the state", so to speak. This time around, Trump has that position in N.Y., nut Hillary as a CARPETBAGGER doesn't.

What the MSM doesn’t get and never will is there are a lot of Democrats who are wondering what the hell happened to their party (not unlike many Republicans wondering the same thing). Their party was supposed to be for the working man, the Middle Class, Unions. Instead they see a party enamored with promoting LGBQBLTPDQ rights and paving the way for more illegal aliens.

And I predict. Trump will win New York in the general election!

He defiantly puts Ny. into play and that will doom the democrats. If trump wins Ny landslide loss for the dems.
