Why Ted Cruz (Not Marco Rubio) Dominated the Third Republican Debate
The New York Observer ^ | November 2, 2015 | Bernie Quigley

Posted on 11/02/2015 2:20:30 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Wednesday night, Texas Senator Ted Cruz opened the doors for the Republican party to walk through to a new beginning; to something ahead that cannot yet be seen — an observation first made the afternoon before, by Edward Luce of the Financial Times who declared the “End of Days” for the Republican Establishment. The Establishment standard Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida, who carried the weight and burden of three generations on his shoulders, would take the final hit for the night.

Throughout long speculation, there were two together, Mr. Bush and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who were believed to be able to manage the Establishment’s transition to a new generation. It would be Mr. Bush, maybe with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as sidekick — as it was envisioned four years ago. Mr. Romney would be close at hand in a life raft, lest it all went south. Which it did.

The Establishment is going to need a bigger boat. And now it is too late for Mr. Romney as well...

I think this reflects their status in the polls more than who actually won a debate. Winning a debate is really the delta between your pre-debate poll and post debate poll.

Not necessarily since Rubio has never been in second place, and all the post-debate polls, whether just on websites or in some of the more official ones, all showed the following pattern:

1) Trump

2) Rubio

3) Cruz

OR

Trump

Cruz

Rubio

Neither Cruz nor Rubio are in 2nd or third place nationally, maybe Rubio might be third place in some polls, but Cruz never this far.

That leads me to believe that the impression among most people is that Trump carried the day, followed by Cruz or Rubio, the latter of whom they will not necessarily vote for.

OAN had Sarah Palin host a show for awhile. They seem to be, from all reviews so far, very good. OAN hired Gravis Marketing to do this poll. I do not know their track record.

According to the OAN web site concerning the poll, it appears that Gravis does robo-calling polls, which a lot of people will question with regards to their accuracy.

By the way, the same poll also shows Trump losing to Hillary...

So far, the debates are more about who loses and is voted off the island. Rubio only “won” because Jeb lost...really lost.

Huckabee was the other loser. Led by Fiorina, most agreed the government and government programs are not the solution.
So Huckabee then suggests a massive government program to solve the 4 big health problems.

Diabetes? 1) Tell people what they can and cant eat. No big gulp. 2) Genetics. Don’t let people with bad genes breed. Support Planned Parenthood in weeding out those who will die younger than average anyway. 3) You get the idea.

Huckabee is worse than Trump in not thinking thru his ideas before he opens his mouth.

Time for Jeb and Huck to go. And take Rand with them. I’m closer to Rand on many issues. But he clearly should run for the Senate and build a Mike Lee type to be the next Sen leader. KrispyKreme? Kasich? will anyone notice if they drop out or not? They compete with Gilmore now.

Just a quick check on the Gravis website shows that they had Obama and Romney tied in the last poll before the election in 2012. So they were only off by 4-5 percent on the last election in a 2-way race...

That will quickly change once Trump sets to work on her. Hillary is even further left today than she was in 2008.

Trump did nothing. Cruz had “the moment” and won.

Actually, being the party of Coolidge sounds just fine to me

Me too. Coolidge cut taxes and spending, and the economy grew. What could be wrong with that?

This might be a “fun” article to read but it is way too optimistic and perhaps not quite accurate.

“The media will no longer be the agent of dominance in culture, agent of policy, agent of ideology and intimidation as it has incrementally grown to be since World War II.” That may or may not be true but one thing that is true is that the federal government will be - especially if/when we get another Democrat administration.

“The Democrats are at a disadvantage because they are not falling apart. They, with Ms. Clinton, are the same party they were in Chicago in 1968.” Not quite. In 1968 they were not all communists yet. Going forward, and they have already started, they will become the party of Islam. This has really blossomed under Obama. Yes, of course they don’t believe in it but they will use it to destroy our country and you and I. If this author thinks Donald or Ted or Marco will stop their advance or turn back all of the gains they have made, then he does not understand the totalitarian mind set.

OAN appears to be a good network. How about letting tehm have a debate?

And Newsmax and The Blaze?

Better than NBC or CNN.

I am leaning very strongly towards Cruz. He has the best combination of IQ and political instincts. He is too smart to let the MSM define him.

The main asset is that he seems to be a constitutional conservative.

I know it's conducted online, but the respondents are chosen randomly and the demographic sample is statistically weighted. Granted their methodology sounds a little less traditional than the standard phone call poll.

The SurveyMonkey on the first debate had Cruz in 4th place though, so within their own poll they're showing movement for Cruz.

It would help shore up Florida for sure. I genuinely believe though that Rubio would pick Kasich as his V.P. The establishment cares only about winning. Shoring up Florida and Ohio off the bat would be too tempting for them to pass up. And Rubio would defer to his handlers on any major decisions like that.
