WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Socially conservative Republicans gathered in Washington this week have their eye on Senator Ted Cruz of Texas for the party's presidential nod and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson for the Republican vice presidential nominee.
Family Research Council Action, a Christian lobbying group, said on Saturday that more attendees polled at the Values Voter Summit said Cruz, a leader with the Republican's Tea Party wing, should be the party's presidential nominee for the November 2016 election.
Cruz, who also won the group's so-called "straw poll" the previous two years, took 35 percent of the support among the nearly 2,700 summit-goers, followed by Carson with 18 percent, the group said in a statement. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee got 14 percent and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida 13 percent...

Pretty small little wing. Don’t think it will fly.
Ben Carson would be acceptable in the VP slot.
3000 people showed up at a Carson speech in Spring Arbor Mi the other night and that’s more than the entire population of the town.
I think your prediction on the other thread is MUCH MORE likely.
Ben Carson is a good man and that is the problem he is too nice. Right now we need someone with fire in their belly and is not intimated by the establishment. There is only 2 people I can think of and Mr. Carson is not one of them.
Maybe Cruz & Carson can be co-vice-president "muscle" for Laird MacLeod...
That would be one of the most unappealing, boring, low-energy pairings of all time.
Cruz is wooden and robotic...and Carson is Sominex squared.
I could and would, however, vote for a Trump/Cruz ticket with Trump on top.

I honestly don’t like to pick on Cruz, but two things stand out with him.
One, he is closer to wooden and robotic than he is to fluid and charismatic.
Two, he isn’t perfect either.
We need a Cruz Alarm to keep us awake when he and sublime perfection is the topic of discussion.
Trump 2016 :)
Carson one heartbeat away from the presidency?
Uh, no.
Trump 2016.
Who will the media target more negativily, Trump or the Evangelical favorites, my guess is the latter.
Cruz has quite the up hill climb but he is also building quite a grassroots machine right now, so it will be interesting to see what he can do with it.
Cruz 2016
He has a rep. in HUNDREDS of counties.
Wow just got goosebumps when I saw that photo right now. They look perfect together. Trump/Cruz 2016
That would be a great ticket. Cruz is by far the best man for the job and Carson would bring a lot to the ticket.
Doubt it will happen though.
I could handle voting for Trump, I just hope our country has not fallen into a pattern where only the richest of people can win the Presidency by the power of their own personal wealth.
There was a time when that would have been unthinkable in this land, now it may become what is necessary at this moment.
I would hope that if Trump can get elected it will be a victory that is both of the grassroots, and for the grassroots and preserves the Constitution of this country.
Cruz 2016
I have a feeling Trump has a totally different person in mind for veep, and its not any of the other candidates. Frankly i don’t think anynof them is good enough.
