Rubio: Trump won’t be our nominee because we’re not an angry nation
Hot Air ^ | August 26, 2015 | Ed Morrissey

Is Marco Rubio sure about that? The 2016 cycle appears ready to boil down to the question of whether the US electorate is an angry one. Rubio’s betting on no — and strategizing on it as well:

In his stump speech to fewer than 100 people in the northern part of the second presidential nominating contest, Rubio gently poked at the real estate tycoon who is towering over the Republican field in the polls, portraying Trump’s message as one of anger as opposed to the senator’s message of hope and opportunity.

“There’s another gentleman running for president whose slogan is Make America Great Again. And I understand what he’s trying to say. But I would remind him that America is great,” Rubio said. “Ask yourself this question: who would you trade places with? Would you rather be China? Would you rather be Brazil or India or anyone else for that matter? There’s no nation on earth I’d trade places with. The issue’s not that America isn’t great. The issue is that America has the chance to be greater. And we’re not fulfilling our potential.”

Well, perhaps that may be true by the time the primaries begin in early 2016, but the summer of 2015 suggests something different — and not just among Republicans. Bernie Sanders has become the Democrats’ Trump without even being a registered Democrat. The socialist rhetoric from which the Democratic establishment has mainly shied over the past few decades turns out to be a big hit this year. This cycle, at least in the early stages, reflects a rising populism in the country that spreads across the political spectrum, and populism definitely comes with an angry edge. At least, it does this year.

Nonetheless, Rubio’s so convinced of this that he’s demurring on battling Donald Trump, or anyone else. Trump took a shot at Rubio for not attacking Jeb Bush, which Rubio shrugged off. Instead, Rubio told reporters, he wants to focus on his own message and let voters decide for themselves:

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

Rubio brushed it off Wednesday when asked about it. “I’m running for president. I’m not running against anybody,” he said. “I’ll continue to talk about my message.”

That’s a smart move for Rubio, and for the other Republican candidates as well. Both Rand Paul and Jeb Bush have tried frontal attacks on Trump, which plays right into Trump’s confrontational strategy. Bush has plenty of resources to sustain himself even if his numbers drop, but Paul’s all but disappeared from view after attacking Trump in the debate. It’s akin to the film War Games — the only way to win is not to play. Rubio’s smart enough to figure that out.

That still leaves the question as to whether a Republican can survive in this field without giving vent to the obvious anger within the electorate. Rubio’s betting that a positive vision combined with a tremendous talent for communicating it will eclipse anger and retribution. That was true in 1980, and perhaps might be true now, but it’s no sure thing, either.

Looks like Rube-io got the Establishment talking points memo to turn on the “angry white man/woman” meme, against the Trump supporters. Rush was talking about this same projection, just today.

Rubio: Trump won’t be our nominee because we’re not an angry nation

Mario.
You are wrong, abysmally wrong.

Instead of taking the pulse of the good nation, the kind nation, the politically correct to a fault nation...
You have immersed yourself in the world of the takers, the exploiters, the lust for power crowd which creates jubilation at the two ends of the national economic spectrum : the illegal aliens and that other subculture bleeding working citizens dry, and the elected and bureaucratic masters enabling them.

You bet your life we are an angry nation; we citizens who see less and less of the ability to maintain our families' welfare and more and more of the indolent leech classes joining the elected criminals against us.

If you can't see that, you should retire from the scene and take a better look around at what is happening. There is no need to reiterate the ills that plague our country and the accelerating rate of additional deterioration.

Please.

GO AWAY!

WE

ARE

ANGRY

BEYOND

BELIEF!!!

Yep. I’m mad that our immigration laws aren’t being enforced.

I’m mad that legislation was passed to build a wall, and that never happened.

I’m made that Republicans haven’t defunded 0CommieCare, or Planned Parenthood.

I’m mad that we’ve sent a mandate - in 2010, 2012 and 2014 to Pubbie *leaders* in DC, and they’ve thumbed their noses at us.

But, I’m glad that Trump is sticking it to the establishment. That makes me happy.

Yes, Marco...we are angry.

We are angry that millions of illegals are being allowed into this country, and the politicians either can’t...and most won’t...stop it.

We are angry that our moral values have been allowed to be trampled by a very small minority, who have been successful in getting politicians and judges to go along with it...and in the process completely change the English language.

We are angry that our hard earned dollars are being spent to support a larger and larger percentage of this country who will not work...and that politicians go along with it and allow it...in fact, far too many encourage it.

We are angry that a half billion of our dollars are being spent to help a corrupt, demented organization kill babies and harvest their body parts, and p[politicians wink at it, or stop cold efforts to end it and defund the Joseph Mangles of our day.

We are angry that corrupt appointees and politicians violate our laws...blatantly...and are not held to account for it.

We are angry that Americans have died at the hands of foreign terrorists and we have been abjectly lied to over and over again about it.

We are angry that our health care has been harmed, and that we were lied to over and over again about...straight to our faces...so that scheming politicians could vote for a decrepit bill that they never even read.

We are angry that our own Justices then ruled in favor of said Health Care travesty by changing the wording of the bill so that they could justify voting for it.

I could go on and on and on, Marco.

we are angry...we are damned mad.

And we are willing to put up with a brash, in your face individual, that though his manners may not be polite, we at least feel that he will get into the politicians, the media’s, the establishment’s face and tell them exactly where to go as he addresses a number of these issues.

That’s where you have things all wrong Marco...it is past time to be polite about the BS and time to take a whole bunch of people out to the woodshed and figuratively beat the living daylights out of them for enriching themselves at the political trough while all of this evil has transpired to our nation and its people..

You better figure that out, Marco...you and your ilk...or you may find a reservation at said wood shed.

“We ARE an angry nation.”

But angry at the wrong target. You have 50% divorce rate. You have 60% born out of wedlock. You kill millions of babies each year and trade body parts in the open market. You raise an utterly moronic generation using a moronic public educational system. You have undisciplined parents that expect miracle from gubmint workers. You have entitled gubmint workers in the business of preparing their pensions rather than teaching and mentoring.

Now the “angry people” have a charlatan media whore peddling his snake oil and promising “profits”. Yeah, good luck with that “anger”. Mirror is what is needed, not anger.

Yes we are angry. I don’t support Trump and frankly he scares me.

If he scares you more than what we have experienced the last 6 years, (in-your-face-fascism) and we may experience in the next four...

You need some serious reflection and introspection.

Yes, but it is a righteous anger.
The anger of a nation lied to. The anger of a people sold out by political hucksters.
The anger of a people who just won’t take it anymore.

Not the mealy mouth anger of a whiny liberal who didn’t get their way.
Not the anger of a professional race hustler.
Not the anger of a global warmist jug head.

That is the most absurd and irrational statement I have seen in six years!

WE did not willingly fund the insane leadership in this country.

We did not willingly fund the rogue executive department in this country.

We did not willingly fund the Criminal and unconstitutional Departments of the Executive in this country.

We did not willingly fund the astronomical national debt which is impossible to eliminate in less than two lean generations.

It was funded by the theft of our work. The work of Americans with non-government job paying net taxes.

All the while, a helpless incompetent Legislature full of eunuchs stood by and failed miserably to perform its job.

Hussein should have been impeached after his first term!!!

No mirror can possibly defeat elected criminals with an army, navy, all the guns and criminal means to examine of our every word and deed. BIG BROTHER with a vengeance.

In his stump speech to fewer than 100 people

That's because Marco had to turn away 10,000 "angry" people. The ones he chose were all nice!

President Marco!

Get plenty of Poland Spring for the Situation Room!

I find that Rubio is in almost everybody’s top 3, even though most prefer someone else for #1. The odds are that between Trump, Carson, Cruz, Walker 1 or 2 of them will self-destruct.

I don’t know why I put Walker up there. He’s on a downward slide and I don’t see how he can turn it around. He won the 50 yard dash in a 26 mile marathon.

Only Fiorina and Kasich can go up from here. Huckabee and everyone below him have no chance of getting to the top tier.

So who picks up the supporters of those voted off the island?
