Iowa has long been the must-win state for Scott Walker, but the growing threat of Donald Trump has the Wisconsin governor's team fortifying its battlements in the state.
The super PAC backing Walker, Unintimidated PAC, told CNN Wednesday that it was buying $7 million of air time in Iowa and starting to saturate the airwaves in September, a major marker. The PAC is also planning to announce buys soon in Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Walker has long led most polls of Republican caucusgoers in Iowa, starting from his breakout speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit this past January. And Walker, with his level Midwestern demeanor and northeast Iowa roots, plays naturally in the state directly adjacent to his.
Still, the Walker lead has slipped away little by little as Trump has solidified a core of Republican supporters across the nation....

Was thinking same thing. Old fashion media is expensive and not nearly as efficient as twitters and FB. Do you know how many followers he has on either ?
No, but I know which FReeper I’d ask. [chuckle]
Iowa does not have an election, it has an auction! Highest bidder wins!
Yeah Trump will fly into Iowa have a couple of stump speeches ...there goes the 7 million ad buy up in smoke.
Not me!
Ill check in morning
Just thinking 7 million would buy a lot of pork barbecue. A chance to see Trump and a picnic. Goes alot further then those irritating TV ads
Who EVER might you mean? :0)
Been a long time, if ever, the Iowa caucuses picked the guy who spent the most.
Hillary’s campaign says they’ve committed $10 million to Iowa already. She’s not going to win.
Rick Perry has spent more time and money in Iowa than anyone, and he’s going to get nothing for it. Jindal, Graham and Fiorina are spending serious money in Iowa already and they’re going to get nothing.
In 2007/8, Romney outspent everyone (maybe combined), but the Iowa GOP picked the broke Huckabee.
In 2011/12, Ron Paul spent the most early money until Romney, who ignored an Iowa ground game, blew huge amounts late, only to see Santorum win.
I was leaning to Walker but not 100% sold. I vote in Florida so my primary vote may not make a bit of difference. Ill just sit back and enjoy the show for awhile. Im in Colombia now for a few weeks and will post the political mood from here. Colombia is very pro REAL USA.
Florida primary is absolutely critical. Taking those winner take all delegates away from Jeb and the GOP-E stooges is the most important task at hand.
But you have to remember Brad Dayspring will be behind these ads so things may get ugly.
Trump will rip somebody a new one. Brad Dayspring is no match for Trump truth telling. I’m convinced that Dayspring was behind the nasty story about Ivana. That fizzled. Trump can hold one event, cite some facts about Walker’s miserable record on jobs and get enough press to make any ads Walker’s camp wants to waste money on totally ineffective.
Agree and it may be very unforntuate to have to vote for someone other than I really want....but the main thing is to get rid of Bush.
Given what you said, why does Iowa even matter? They have picked losers all......
Iowa doesn’t really matter except to allow an unknown candidate a chance to become known to a national audience (Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama), or a chance for a seemingly strong candidate to stumble (Hillary Clinton, Rick Perry). Iowa caucuses have always been boring party business with a straw poll thrown in for a little excitement. It’s not Iowa’s fault political junkies and the MSM have gone crazy.
I vote in Florida and Walker gets my vote.
