Senate GOP Leaders Want To Put Ted Cruz In A Time Out
The Huffington Post's Politics ^ | July 26, 2015 | Laura Barron-Lopez, congressional reporter

Senate Republican leaders spent a rare Sunday session scolding Ted Cruz.

The leaders wagged their fingers at the younger senator, accusing him of using his pedestal in the upper chamber to "pursue personal ambitions."

Cruz, a Texas senator who is running for the Republican presidential nomination, drew the ire of his colleagues for claiming the top Republican in the Senate lied to him. He accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) of going back on a promise he claims McConnell made to him about the contentious Export-Import Bank.

On Friday, McConnell set up an amendment vote to reauthorize the bank, which provides loans to those purchasing American exports. That didn't sit well with Cruz -- a strong opponent of the bank -- who said he could not "believe [McConnell] would tell a flat-out lie."

In an attempt to get a vote on additional amendments to legislation currently before the Senate, Cruz utilized a procedural tool to overturn McConnell's decision to "fill the tree" on amendments. By filling the tree, McConnell is able to control more closely which amendments get a vote, and limit the amount....

I think Cruz and Trump are setting up for a 3rd party run....

I'm with them.

I really don’t know what to make of the whole thing.

McConnell and company seem like they are incompetent in advancing the agenda they were elected to pursue.

On the other hand, Cruz does seem like a bull in a china shop. Given the circumstances, that may be warranted. But ultimately you can’t do jack squat if you burn all your bridges. Cruz may be smart and good at grandstanding, but it’s not clear he knows how to actually get thing done.

Trump will never No. 2 so Ted Cruz will graciously and enthusiastically accept to be VP. Ted will eventually be President; it’s in his DNA and there’s nothing that can stop it.

I hope they say, we are 5 days away from fundamentally un-transforming America, and then do it.

“pursue personal ambitions.”

Exposing trickery and lies is “pursuing personal ambitions.” I’d give up and stop caring if it weren’t such a critical time for the US. We have to continue to care or there won’t be anything left of our country shortly.

They aren’t incompetent.

They have no intention in advancing any agenda other than the government agenda.

They are liars.

If a third party had been started in 2008 it would be a force to be reckoned with today. But the “cry” was “A third party will hand Obama the re-election.” Seems he was re-elected anyway.

A third party might help Hillary win. But it also might get rid of the rino party once and for all. And as far as I’m concerned, the rino gopE is more dangerous that the democrat party.

"I’m working every day to give him more money."

Thank you. I made an additional donation today and I hope everyone, who can, will do the same.

We need to let him know we stand with him.

There are no consequences for their actions. Why would they change?

Hillary’s toast. The Obamanites threw her under the bus today re “nothing classified” e-mails.
The GOP is facing a ‘Whig moment’. If Cruz and ten others take the “me too’ GOPers with them, the GOP is toast too.

[Cruz may be smart and good at grandstanding, but it’s not clear he knows how to actually get thing done.]

You may be somewhat right, but what Sen. Cruz sure does is beat “go along to get along”, “hands across the aisle”, and “bend over sweetheart and touch your toes and I’ll show you where the wildgoose goes” uniparty members who call themselves republicans.

OK genius, please prove that Senator Cruz has not gone above and beyond the 'call of duty' with respect to his constitutionally defined duties as Senator.

As this incident proves, the Leadership, you know the ones, McConnell and his team and Boehner and his team will do everything in their power to make sure that conservative bills are not passed.

Please provide us with proof that your contention is true and is supported by the facts.
