Ted Cruz is way behind in polls about the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. But hes killing it when it comes to fundraising.
The Texas senator is in eighth place among the GOP White House hopefuls, according to the latest average of polls from RealClearPolitics. But Cruz places third in the money race, when counting his own campaign and affiliated super PACs, behind fellow Republican Jeb Bush and Democrat Hillary Clinton.
On Wednesday, the public got a look at how the campaigns are raising and spending money through the end of the second quarter. As The Wall Street Journal points out, Cruz was the only candidate who launched his campaign early enough to file a first-quarter report. But he hadnt been a candidate for long; only eight days.
Still, he and his super PAC backers have raised a combined $51 million. That puts him ahead of GOP rivals like Marco Rubio (whos fourth in the RealClear average) and Ben Carson (fifth).
Bush and Clinton are comfortably in spots one and two for combined candidate-super PAC fundraising....

So far, nation wide, Cruz does not seem to be “catching on.” He may not even “make the cut’ for the debates. I would not vote for Cruz in the primaries but would support him if the nominee for President.
Easy. The debate with Donald Trump gets the better ratings by far.
I am really thinking a Cruz/Trump or Trump/Cruz combination is going to be a knockout of the left.

Trump won’t play 2nd fiddle. It’s either first or nothing, imo.
He has made the debates.
Lindsey Graham. What a joke.
He may not even make the cut for the debates.”
LOL...
Right....
Wow! How true is that? ;- 0
He may not even make the cut for the debates.

Are you saying you don’t think he’ll make the top 10 for the
first Fox debate?
Currently he’s in 7th place in Real Clear Politics poll avg.
To miss the cut that means he’s got to drop four places.
Isn’t going to happen imo.
I expect Cruz to rise in the polls, especially as the light weights drop out.
Ted is the real thing. Trump is preparing a path for Ted.
Hillary would have a difficult time debating Porky Pig.
Yes, Jeb would do better if he could lose name recognition.
Polls are all over the place depending upon the time, place and circumstances under which they are taken. We will see if he makes it.

Yep that's inherent in polling. That's one reason they are using
the average among five polls to help balance the results.
I agree and posted so here on FR two weeks back when I thought Trump would peak and fade. Now it looks like he’s in it to win it.
Thanks for reminding that Trump is either Number 1 or nothing.
Trump/Cruz then.
Cruz’s campaign strategy is dependent on a strong grassroots volunteer/donor base. If they aren’t flooding the key States with campaign signs and bumper stickers, they should be. Social media dominance isn’t enough.
Earned media and public appearances are good, but to capitalize on that and show tangible undeniable grassroots support, you need to see a sea of Ted Cruz across America and in every red town.
It not only is infectious and intimidates weaker campaigns, it is a great way to get supporters “invested” in the campaign so they will keep donating and recruiting new supporters.
I’m a Ted Cruz supporter ... yet, his massive Facebook and Twitter presence DOES NOT equal “boots-on-the-ground” political victories ... that’s all I’ll say ...
Hmm.. the polling seems rather suspect to me when the top fundraiser (Yeb only has more due to big donations) is that low in the polls. Money in the bank seems more reliable than inaccurate, manipulable poll results.
I’m praying for Cruz. I figure that’s the most effective thing I can do.
