I think I’m going to skip the Marathon for the 50th consecutive year to see the next president instead

What I find interesting is that pretty much every pro-gun association in NH is co-sponsoring. Even the ones that don’t like each other a whole lot.

Litchfield is a nice little town but be careful getting there, it's a speed trap.

Here’s my first-person report from Ted’s appearance at the NH rod and gun club:

I just left this rally. Non-club members weren’t allowed to go to the shooting range, so I didn’t get to see Ted shoot.

I’ll tell you what, though, there were a lot of people carrying openly, within feet of Ted, and there wasn’t “a lot” of security. Let me put it that way. It made ME nervous, especially considering what happened to Chris Kyle. Anyone who drew would have gone down in a hail of bullets, but still...

I couldn’t help but feel that Ted has placed his fate in God’s hands. He didn’t seem nervous at all. Can anyone imagine her highness putting herself in such a situation?

Ted began with what is probably his standard stump speech, with a heavy emphasis on the 2A, since this was a 2A rally.

The mic went in and out in the opening minutes. When it went out, he said, “Eric Holder’s cut the mic!” That got a lot of laughs.

Cruz delivers a speech well, without notes. Following the speech, he allowed 5 or 6 questions. He deftly answered every question as if he had been reading from a prepared statement.

We NEVER have to fear him making a faux pas. He is the anti-Biden.

On top of that, I learned that Ted has a great sense of humor. He’s quick. Three or four times he came up with truly funny quips off the cuff.

A lawyer stood up to ask a question, after first apologizing for being from Massachusetts and having never fired a gun.

“We can fix that problem today,” Ted said, to a lot of laughs.

The setting was a humble NH rod and gun club, with about 150 people in attendance. Ted spoke in front of a Quonset hut, which was the group’s headquarters. He was wearing a light blue shirt and khaki pants with a Western belt. He looks to be about 6’, and in good shape for a man his age. His wife is slight. She seems sweet and reserved.

After the speech and questions, Ted stayed to have his picture taken. I was able to get his autograph. I told him that “we love you, Ted, and the best of luck to you.”

A man in front of me in line had a prepared prayer written down and asked anyone around if they would pray with him. I have to admit, I thought, “oy, how long is this going to go?” There were a lot of people waiting.

Ted listened patiently to the reading of Ephesians 6:10-18, and the man’s personal prayer. Ted prayed along, and then joked with the man’s son. “How was the speech? Was it OK? Or was it boooring?”

Ted has a firm handshake and looks you in the eye. I watched him listen patiently to several individuals who were pouring out their hearts to him. He listened patiently to every syllable, and addressed their points specifically. He wasn’t looking past the person speaking, thinking of what was coming next. It reminded me of a priest hearing a confession. He seems like a truly good man.

On the way home I was listening to the radio and heard the Sox score. I thought about the fact that there were probably 30k people in attendance at today’s game. Then I thought, how can there be only 150 people in attendance at a rally for a man who could be the greatest statesman in a generation?
