Republicans McCain, Angelo, Karger Call on 2016 Presidential Candidates to Avoid Gay Attacks

Gregory T. Angelo, Meghan McCain and Fred Karger signing the St. Louis Resolution Tuesday night.

In a move designed to head off anti-gay rhetoric during the 2016 Republican presidential campaign, three prominent GOP leaders signed a resolution Tuesday and will send it off to the 18 prospective Republican candidates for president.

After speaking on a panel entitled “Marriage Equality and the Republican Party” in Graham Chapel at Washington University, political columnist and television host Meghan McCain, Log Cabin Republican Executive Director, Gregory T. Angelo and the first openly gay candidate to run for President, Fred Karger, all signed the Resolution, which has been dubbed the “St. Louis Resolution.”

The St. Louis Resolution lists several reasons why candidates should avoid attacking the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community which has been done in past elections. The Resolution ends with, be it “Resolved, that all Republican candidates for President of the United States in 2016 shall refrain from any anti-gay rhetoric.”

The St. Louis Resolution will be sent via email to the following 18 potential Republican candidates for president: Ambassador John Bolton; Governor Jeb Bush; Dr. Ben Carson; Governor Chris Christie; Senator Ted Cruz; Ms. Carly Fiorina; Senator Lindsey Graham; Governor Bobby Jindal; Governor John Kasich; Governor George Pataki; Governor Sarah Palin; Senator Rand Paul; Governor Mike Pence; Governor Rick Perry; Senator Marco Rubio; Senator Rick Santorum; Mr. Donald Trump; and Governor Scott Walker. A copy will also be sent to Reince Preibus, Chairman of Republican National Committee. “It’s time for the party of Lincoln to treat all Americans with respect and dignity,” said McCain. “If the Republican Party is ever going to attract younger voters, our candidates for president need to stop their nasty attacks and move on to issues that will unite us as a party and a country.”

I’ll urge Republican candidates to avoid attacks on homosexuals when homosexuals avoid attacks on Christian cake bakers, hotels, florists, schools, employers, and institutions. Until then, I see our “attacks” as less an offense than a defense.

"Prominent" my elbow - I've only ever heard of McCain, and that only because Daddy was the nominee.

All three of them look like grinning perverts.

The kind of faces that would send warning signals to children to run (quickly) in the opposite direction.

OK, GOPe visigoths, here's the GOP Party Platform on marriage:

Preserving and Protecting Traditional Marriage

The institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society. Its success as an institution will determine our success as a nation. It has been proven by both experience and endless social science studies that traditional marriage is best for children. Children raised in intact married families are more likely to attend college, are physically and emotionally healthier, are less likely to use drugs or alcohol, engage in crime, or get pregnant outside of marriage. The success of marriage directly impacts the economic well-being of individuals. Furthermore, the future of marriage affects freedom. The lack of family formation not only leads to more government costs, but also to more government control over the lives of its citizens in all aspects. We recognize and honor the courageous efforts of those who bear the many burdens of parenting alone, even as we believe that marriage, the union of one man and one woman must be upheld as the national standard, a goal to stand for, encourage, and promote through laws governing marriage. We embrace the principle that all Americans should be treated with respect and dignity.

Does defending traditional marriage constitute an "attack" on gays?

Adam Bouska's Blog:
"meghan mccain's fight for equality"
Fashion and beauty photographer (and founder of the pro homosexual NOH8 campaign) shares his experiences and photos from his life in the industry. June 19th, 2009 Meghan McCain, daughter of US Senator John McCain, came by our studio today to lend her face to the NO H8 Campaign. Meghan, who is also Republican, reminds us that our fight against Prop 8 doesn't just include liberals and Democrats. It doesn't matter what your political affiliation is, you can still stand up for equality. Thank you, Meghan, for taking the time to come out and for being such a great ally!

This is simply a proposal to deny freedom of speech and freedom of religion to anyone who disagrees in any way with the homosexual agenda.

Referring to Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan in the letter is beneath contempt.

People don’t to attack gays as individuals -— but the Big Gay organizations are political organizations just like any other political organization and deserve to be held to account for bullying, bribery, undue influence and packing boards, school and corporate.

They are political organizations, just like a carpenter’s union or any PAC. they are out to do the best they can for their constituency, even if they have to walk all over other people.

I don’t hate carpenters just because I would object to the bullying tactics of a corrupt carpenter’s UNION.

Christ said to love your fellow man not some political party, he didn’t say to love the Democratic Party or some CPAC or some union or the Nazi party or the Socialist party. he said INDIVIDUALs.

The Big Gay organizations have millions of dollars and unbounded ambition and an unslakeable thirst for power. You don’t have to grovel to them because they constantly use individuals -— pitiful, oppressed and suitably handsome as in all their propaganda -— they are POLITICAL POWER GROUPS.

I’m certain you can smell poop on those poll figures from them being pulled fresh out of someone’s butt. However, I myself, avoid gay attacks by letting everyone know how I hate the homosexuals’ advancing agenda, but would happily welcome any homosexual to my church, where, when the topic comes up, we will insist that homosexual activity is a sin.

That, and if any “gay” attacked me, I’d thumb ‘em like a bug.
