Bad News for Republicans As Americans Have Confidence in Government To Deal with Ebola (Laff-riot!)
PoliticusUSA - Real Liberal Politics ^ | October 27, 2014 | Sarah Jones

There is “overwhelming confidence in the federal government’s ability to prevent a nationwide epidemic,” according to a new CNN/ORC International Poll.

“More than 7 in 10 Americans say the federal government can stop an Ebola epidemic, and 54% believe the federal government is doing a “good job” in addressing the disease.”

Yes, the media hysteria has had an effect, as 8 in 10 believe that a new person will be diagnosed with Ebola in the coming weeks, however 53% think that healthcare workers and hospitals in their community are ready to treat an Ebola case.

But, and here’s the bad news for Republicans, only 26% believe that someone in their area will get Ebola in the next few weeks. Republicans gave up running against Obamacare when it turned out that Americans liked their Obamacare, leaving them with essentially nothing to run on as they refuse to tell the public any details about their platform.

Joe Sonka reported days ago for Insider Louisville that Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) told the Rotary Club, “I’m not announcing what the agenda would be in advance. We’re not in the majority yet. We’ll have more to say about that later.” Oh, so he’ll tell you where he stands and what the Republicans are going to do with our laws and stuff AFTER the election. He also mentioned his effort to “fix” Social Security Bush’s way (aka, privatizing Social Security) at the Rotary Club, and presumably privatizing Social Security is something the Republican Senate Minority Leader would rather not discuss in the spotlight until after the election. Wink wink.

This leaves Republicans with the only choice of going negative and fear based, so last week they were trying to run on ISIL (and still are, selling themselves as the party that will magically keep you safe, in stark contrast to the facts – see 9/11) and now, Ebola.

Embattled governors are grasping onto Ebola like a lifeline, trying to show leadership even if it means stealing liberty and freedom from Americans while ignoring science and medicine just so that they can appear to be strong. Chris Christie (R-NJ) has made a bit of a fool of himself over it, locking a nurse up in a tent with no shower and a porta potty type enclosure for a bathroom. Georgia Republican Governor Nathan Deal announced today that Georgia (my italics) “could quarantine ‘high-risk’ travelers from areas ravaged by Ebola even if they show no symptoms of the deadly virus.”

It’s not just Republicans grasping hold of Ebola as their Hail Mary in a tough election. A scattering of Democratic governors are at it as well. It’s just that Republicans have nothing else to talk about or run on, so it stands out in relief with them.

Republican Obama hunter Darrell Issa tried to use a weather app to show Obama how it’s done on Ebola, because he seems to be short on facts and long on entertainment. The apps that actually take our temperatures (unlike the weather app) are for “entertainment” purposes only, much as the Congressman himself.

CNN Polling Director Keating Holland drove the knife in, “Most Americans seem to recognize that they are not in personal jeopardy themselves. In fact, the vast majority of Americans probably don’t know anyone who has ever been to West Africa.”

Whatever will Republicans do?

The federal government might just steal this show in spite of being underfunded and obstructed by Republicans, by showing the purpose of the federal government. This could remind voters that while we might get frustrated with government’s inefficiencies, we don’t really want to shut that show down.

Nope. When Ebola comes calling, President Obama’s calm, rational, science based approach works. The country has faith in the federal government to prevent an epidemic, even after much hysteria and hang-wringing, pearl-clutching nay-saying by increasingly desperate Republicans.

Malarkey.

Americans want our government to keep the disease out of our country.

This government seems completely to oppose that simple expectation.

How many children are paralyzed or dead of EV-D68?
the other bioweapon of the undocumented Moslem Tyrant
and his EXEMPT whoring, drunk, treasonous Congress.

Americans will never forget the quartering by force,
by secrecy and the deaths which followed (not yet reported).

Was this a poll of real Americans, or just those who watch CNN?

“... according to a new CNN/ORC International Poll.”

If CNN polled its regular viewers, then out of a nation of 310 million or so, the 2 regular viewers carried the CNN/OBC poll to its absurd result.

Americans who aren’t blindly partisan want the disease out of the country . It’s pretty disturbing how some people are the government’s useful idiots nowadays. Question is: how many new locations with Ebola will it take to wake the gullible segment up.

A definite, desperation article by the MSM. Hogwash, most Americans see the confusion of the government’s reaction to Ebola hitting our shores and it sure doesn’t inspire confidence when the CDC is changing their protocols almost every week to deal with it.

What was with that 60 minutes interview where the doctor said Duncan died on October 4th... but the press had reported he died 4 days later on the 8th?

Why is the press so far off from truth... has nothing to do with any election coming up, right? raiiiight.

In other news, North Korea announced that leader Kim Jong-Un has returned from the first manned space flight to Mars and has claimed the planet for the Mother Land.

She doesn’t even live in Maine. She decided to visit her boyfriend there. That’s pretty selfish. The people in Maine think so.

The true believers do. I know 2 of them who told me we're all making too big of a deal out of this Ebola thing. Obama said we're safe and they trust him. I didn't know Obama was an expert on infectious diseases.

It is hard to even know how to respond to this it is so crazy.

Obama was quoted as saying there was a silver lining in all the ebola stuff, showing how important the gov’t health care structure is.

What a warped perspective. “Oh cool, now we can grow gov’t even bigger cuz the people are scared of a lethal disease...”

Leave it to a democrat to see things that way. It would be like saying the silver lining to Hitler was that it showed everyone how important a big military is. Or the silver lining in murder is that it shows how important policemen are. There is no silver lining to a bad thing. No one thinks gov’t plays no role in combating disease. That doesn’t mean we should shovel billions of dollars to gov’t so they can study STUPID stuff instead.

LIBs are self-loathing degenerates. Why don’t they just off their selves and leave the rest of us alone? They are ghouls who embrace killing: ebola...respiratory illness...abortion...Veteran neglectful murder...death panels...Benghazi...and so forth. Good work LIBs...you maniacs.

I, on the other hand, don't have even "underwhelming confidence" that this poll is anywhere near an honest, competent one!

No never underestimate gullible people, plenty more than most Freepers admit are out there. The real problem with Ebola is te fact that when it hits a local area. Businesses go way down because people are scared of infection. I am not sure tht the experts are entirely sure how it spreads.
