Why Fox News dropped Sarah Palin [Palin dropped Fox]
The Christain Science Monitor ^ | January 26, 2013 | Brad Knickerbocker

When the history of US politics in the early 21st century is written, two figures will stand out: Barack Obama and Sarah Palin.

The election of Mr. Obama to the highest elective office – the first African-American to win the presidency – did not necessarily signal a new era of post-racial politics. But coming just a generation after federal troops in the South (and a federal judge in Boston) were necessary to desegregate public schools, it was a huge milestone.

Sarah Palin was not the first woman to win a major political party’s vice presidential nomination; that was US Rep. Geraldine Ferraro, Walter Mondale’s running mate way back in 1984.

But the presence of the former Alaska governor on the GOP ticket headed by Sen. John McCain in 2008 invigorated the party – at the time, at least. And although they lost to Obama and Joe Biden, it wasn’t the blowout that Mondale and Ferraro suffered against Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.

Ferraro went on to relative political obscurity, twice losing Democratic Party primaries for the US Senate. Ms. Palin, on the other hand, was just getting started when the returns for the 2008 presidential race were being counted.

Over the next few years, she became a political force of nature – stirring a tea party base that thronged to her appearances, scaring GOP incumbents deemed too willing to find common ground with Democrats, and building a very lucrative business that included (for one season, at least) her own “reality” TV show while launching one of her five children – daughter Bristol – on her own entertainment career.

Meanwhile, as with some other conservative ex-elected officials like Mike Huckabee, Palin was given a sinecure of sorts as a commentator for Fox News...

FOX hired the guy to represent the best of the traditional leftwing side of things ~ plus a black view. Can't imagine FOX hiring Juan Williams to represent the Conservative side, can you?

Your comment suggested you had no idea who this guy was ~ he's far from a wild screamer ~ never has done that act that I can recall.

Let’s see the left on here ‘nitpick’ obama’s character like they do Sarah’s. His isn’t just character... it’s his whole agenda. To not see that, is scary.

DUH! I did - your little ‘what she said’ clip.

What did you post about Sarah that you claim is ‘self described’?

Why can’t liberals think past their nose - everything has to be explained to them. They are a waste of bandwidth.

“Feminism by grounding itself in the philosophy of Hegel and Marx, is condemning women to a new servitude: slavery to the state.”

This is what you think Sarah Palin wants or is doing?

Good grief, that's sick beyond belief.........

Palin's real value is apparently motivating some voters that is where she belongs-giving Rah Rah Rah speeches.

What a short-sighted, narrow view of her.

I won't try to change your mind about her. I'll just say that you're very much underestimating her value and potential as a leader.

LOL. If that’s what you read then you already know the problem without any input from me.

Sarah should run for the Senate. She can really help us there.

As just one vote among a hundred? Thanks, but no thanks. She belongs in the White House. 2016 or bust.

If you’re not afraid, you can watch and listen to Sarah’s own words:

“...break up the old boy network...It is an honor to call her a sister. . . America, this is what a feminist looks like.”
-Shelly Mandell, president of the National Organization for Women’s Los Angeles chapter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv-xN3Fd_Bk&feature=related

“Wow, and thank you too Shelly for that kind introduction, and thank you so much for your endorsement, and with your help, Shelly, in November, all of us, who consider ourselves progressive, yet at the same time we can be conservative, we’re gonna shatter the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America.

I was looking at Shelly’s resume before I came out here and I thought ‘Woo, there’s some diversity! I like this, it’s good.’ And, because, maybe this is the only time that I would get an endorsement like this, or an introduction, I’ve gotta share with you, it’s like kinda providential, yesterday what happened to me, I can use this today after that introduction from Shelly, I’m readin’ on my Starbuck’s mocha cup, okay, the quote of the day? You’ll never believe what the quote was. It was Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State, and U.N. Ambassador. And Madeleine has as her quote of the day for Starbuck’s — now she said it, I didn’t — she said, ‘There’s a place in hell for women who don’t support other women.’

Okay, now thank you so much for receiving that well. I did’t know how that was gonna go over. And now, California, let’s see, what a comment like I just made, how that is turned into whatever it’ll be turned into tomorrow in the newspaper.”

(According to CBS News’ Scott Conroy, Palin got the quote slightly wrong. Albright actually said, “There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t help other women.”)

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but that quote is from your post ascribing it to what Palin is doing for some strange reason, so why are you suggesting it's me that brought it up?

Do you really believe, as you said in your post that Palin wants that for eveyone? Are you on drugs or something?

She hasn’t changed her beliefs from the first day she showed up on the stage. She has not cowered in the face of a full front media onslaught. She is still that fighter that the GOP men are not. And getting stronger.

All true.

Sarah Palin has qualities of personality, courage, and virtue, that are rare in today's world. She's honestly got more in common with Americans of the Founding Generation, than those of these fallen times. She's a throwback to a time when most people had simple 'horse sense', and could separate right from wrong without becoming confused about the 'grey areas' and 'nuances'.

And that is why she inspires patriots and like-minded Americans so much. There's a reason that she packs the house like few others on the political stage. People know a real leader when they see one, and that is why we listen when she speaks.

She is fearless, and is unerringly pointed in the right direction. Good Americans will follow a person like that, wherever they lead.

See post #134.

Palin wants to break the glass ceiling. She’s not thinking about what happens to the rest of our culture under Feminism.

It is very short sighted of her.

IMO: Sarah’s “jump the shark” moment came when she was at one of the (debates?) and was photographed with her “memory jogger” notes written on the palm of her hand...!

Whoop-de-frikken-do.

As if no other politician ever went into a debate without notes of some kind before. Crikey....

Your comment suggested you had no idea who this guy was ~ he's far from a wild screamer ~ never has done that act that I can recall.

My comment DID NOT suggest that! My comment was ' DELIBERATELY BIAS' and where does it say 'wild screamer' in that? Why are you deliberately posting/presenting things I never said or implied? That's all you've done so far. Liberals do that. You are watching TOO much of Juan and bringing it here. Get lost!

FOX hired the guy to represent the best of the traditional leftwing side of things ~ plus a black view.

What part of the LEFT WING do conservatives NEED to know about? And you add 'the best of'. How liberal of you. There is 3 or more stations devoted solely for the LEFT and the LEFT running this country for 4 plus years. What MORE of the LIBERAL view do YOU need and think the viewers need?

The black view? WTF? Isn't this about America and American's? Why don't they have ALL THE FLAVORS then? This is another one of your very weak answers. Get over it - your liberal friend, Juan, is a liberal loser like you.

Can't imagine FOX hiring Juan Williams to represent the Conservative side, can you?

NO. Because they don't want conservatives!

Okay, I get it, you don't like her, but ascribing to her the feminism of the democrats is simply asinine, and flat out wrong.

Do you think women shouldn't be in politics? No Michele Bachmann, no Nikki Haley, no Phyliss Schlafly?

What's got the burr under your saddle?
