.....A new poll from Public Policy Polling shows that Ron Paul has taken the lead in the Iowa caucus race, while Newt Gingrich's support is fading fast. A different Gallup poll still shows Grinrich still holding the lead, but slipping, while The New York Times has Paul in the lead as well.
Gingrich has seen his numbers in the PPP poll drop from 27 percent to 14 percent in just three weeks, while his favorability rating is now split at 46 percent for to 47 percent against, the worst of any candidate not named Jon Huntsman. That's quite a fall for someone who looked to be running away with the state and taking charge on the national level.
Mitt Romney has also seen his tick up slightly, putting him just behind Paul for second place. The poll measured voters who are planning to vote in the Republican caucus.
Perhaps the most telling secondary question was, "Do you think Newt Gingrich has strong principles?" Only 36 percent say that he does, but for Paul that number was 73 percent.

If this poll is accurate, a good many FReepers should be able to finally celebrate.
All of that hard work to help Romney bring his numbers up and push Newts down, might being paying off for these so called conservatives.
With just a bit more work, these FReepers might actually be able to help put Romney over the top and bring us another 4 fricking years of Obama.
Party on folks... be proud of the fruits of your labor.
Obama and the libs have got to be laughing their a$$es off...
Looks like the Republicans would have more luck controlling the House and Senate with veto proof majorities by endorsing certain candidates for Congress and seems more of an attainable goal than nominating a popular presidential candidate.
At the same time going on the attack to remove sitting fixtures in Congress up for reelection by pounding away on their voting records...of course more than half the sitting Republicans would have to bow out in that case. Examples: Voting results on O’bummer care and the recent ‘we can name anyone a combatant for indefinite confinement’ legislation.
But Congress votes for giving away taxpayer’s money all the time while taking rights away little by little...situation hopeless. Mums the word.

Ron Paul has a better chance than Romney TBH
Why? Paul will peel off demo votes whereas Romney will not.
Ron Paul Surge???......Bullcrap!
Ron F***ing Paul?
I’d write in HILLARY before I’d vote for Ron Paul. Maybe not, but still, REALLY????????? RON EFFING PAUL?
[ Holy crap.....Romney or Paul?
ROMNEY OR PAUL??????
“Excuse me sir, would you prefer a broken arm or a broken leg?” ]
Slow Collapse over the next 4/8 years = Romney
Catastrophic Re-set and Ron-a-geddon - Paul
I am prepared for a SHTF scenario, in some ways it would be better than a SLOW RINO death.....
Still it is a faustian bargain at this point....
I hope Bachman can pull it out and get the nomination at this point...
Newt needs to run some ads.
I’m guessing, however, his strategy is to blast the airwaves the last 2 weeks or so, which has 2 effects:
1. It saves his campaign money, which he has too little of
2. It has the greatest possible effect and is fresh in their minds as they enter the voting booth (this may or may not work)
PsyOps.
I aint buyin it this time.
Vote Newt.
Operation Chaos...is in full effect.
#54
Ain’t buyin’ either.
I have a HUGE feeling Newt will win the nom in a landslide.
I saw a youtube of Newt from six weeks ago speaking in Iowa. He spoke for about three minutes about his absolute support of ethanol.
It was painful watching Newt twist his words trying to spin it as a conservative position. It was disgusting watching such pandering over such a Statist mechanism as ethanol.
“I am prepared for a SHTF scenario”
Ditto. Almost. I need a milk cow and solar panels.
thats not a choice...thats a death sentence for the USA.
Precisely. Obama is scared witless of Ron Paul for precisely that reason.
Perry may be surging a bit with the anti-Romney vote moving from Newt to Perry, but these are fluid voters who've moved around a lot from Cain to Newt already. The Ron Paul voters, once decided, don't tend to move around as much as any of the others, according to the polls.
When first I read “collapses” I thought he’d had a medical problem until I got to the second half of the sentence.
LOL! Just because Paul is a liberal doesn't mean he'll 'peel off' any leftist votes.
There's no chance that it would happen, but IF Paul would be the nominee, he'd make George McGovern's and Michael Dukakis's vote totals look good.
Unless you love Obama, you'd better pray that Ron Paul neither wins the nomination nor runs third party. In either case, Obama would win and the America we know and love would not survive.
If Gingrich is slipping in Iowa, that is no big deal, but if they have Paul at the top it pretty much makes Iowa irrelevant.
They are so far out of the mainstream as to be not worthy of even giving the Iowa vote a thought.
The totally ignorant conservatives in Iowa have turned to an anti-semite.
This entire thing makes me sick to my stomach.
But the attacks on Gingrich have been relentless, around the clock, and by every network.
Obama in his wildest dreams couldn't wish for a 'better' opponent than Ron Paul.
Fortunately, the support for Paul is so narrow and freakish and left-leaning that there's no chance in all the world that he would get the nomination.
Perry/Bachmann
Perry/Bolton
Perry/Palin
Or Santorum
I wish. Check out the RCP in #54.
My official for the record FR prediction. Romney, Newt, Paul, and Perry and Backman dead even for 4th
Those 2008 Iowa results
Huckabee 34.4 %
Romney 25.2%
Thompson 13.1%
Paul 10%
Morton Downey Junior “endorses” Ron Paul for President!
It’s at the end of the clip.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHB2I83_N_k
How long has Ron Paul been running for President?
Yep.
IF this poll is even close to accurate, it only proves that the longknives have yet again accomplished their goal of removing a viable Republican candidate (Paul is the only one among the group who is NOT viable, nor Republican).
Since....88?
There are clowns, crazy clowns, zany clowns, and then clowns who believe today’s polls by PPP (D) and I.A. (391 total votes polled, including Democrats and Independents)that Ron Paul is in the lead both in Iowa and Nationally.
391 votes with a significant chunk of Democrats and Independents is a RIDICULOUSLY small sample size for a GOP Primary. What a joke!
Hey clowns, do you really believe Ron Paul is leading the GOP Primary on the NATIONAL level, too? What a crock! LOL
Ron Paul would rival Obama for worst possible commander in chief. Obama doesn’t care and Paul has no clue whatsoever about the Islamist threat.
The independents will rally behind Paul. And if there is no unity behind Perry,Bachmann,Santorum we are further screwed with Trump,Romney then Obama.Gingrich can go nowhere without the independent vote.No one can.So unity behind a tea party candidate now is crucial.
Four more years of the Kenyan Muslim, sadly.
The GOP is being taken over by the younger generation who has no loyalty to Party, only to their futures. They can't do anything to change the Democratic Party and they don't want Obama because they see him as no better and even worse than Bush, so they, along with the Independents and disaffected Democrats, are flexing their muscles and taking over the Republican Party to elect Ron Paul.
They are counting on that "Anybody but Obama" rhetoric coming from the GOP faithful actually meaning something come election day -- and Ron Paul is their choice of "Anybody".
Like it or not, I think that the GOP is going to face a big choice -- Change or Die -- this election. Retool & remake itself for the future and return to its Constitutional roots, or these young voters are going to drive this election and this Party into a ditch.
You may hate it, but I really think that this is what's happening.
"Public Policy Polling (PPP) is an American Democratic Party-affiliated polling firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina...."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Policy_Polling
I call BS on this poll.
Perry/Bolton will get the independents off the Paul coo coo train and back in our court.
Forget national polls, their meaningless right now.
If Newt gets hammered in Iowa and loses New Hampshire he's done.
If Perry finishes in the top 3 in Iowa he can skip NH and focus on SC.
If Bachmann and Santorum drop out that means Perry and Mitt will fight it out.
I believe if Bachmann leaves the race after Iowa she will endorse Mitt. My hope is if Santorum leaves he will back Perry.
“nd leave Mittens as the nominee “n order to suppress conservative voting” and guarantee four more years of juicy reporting as Obama continues the march towards socialism.”
Then, ultimately, it will be your fault for not voting for the Pub candidate. Have fun in Obamaworld. Thanks for taking the rest of us down with you.
Ain’t cow, ain’t bull, ain’t horse, ain’t dog, ain’t elephant, I give up. What the heck kinda flop is that?
G
Although you make a few good points about what 'young people' are looking for, you miss all the massive negatives about Ron Paul's dangerous foreign policy (remember, the 'young people' you refer to are the ones in our military who have been sacrificing their lives and freedom to fight Islamic terrorism - your claim that they care more about 'losing freedoms' than the danger of terrorism isn't valid, IMO).
The fact that Ron Paul blames 9/11 on America and lives in lala land about Iran, makes him anathema to truly conservative young people - amd rational conservatives of any age.
Your defense of Paul and your dismissal of those who rightfully accuse him of being a marginal, non-serious candidate falls short of reality.
I repeat.....support for Paul is narrow, freakish and left-leaning. He can't win a Republican primary. Period.
Really?

You may not like the information or the conclusions based on facts on the ground, but that doesn't mean that they are wrong.
Virtually no one here like the fact that Ron Paul is leading in the polls in Iowa, but again, that doesn't mean it isn't true.
There is a difference between analysis of tactics and an OPORD.
You presume too much, M'Lady.
“Did I say I would not be voting?
There is a difference between analysis of tactics and an OPORD. You presume too much, M’Lady.”
Methinks you doth protest too much, m’lord (LOL). When you said suppress the conservative vote, that translates into not voting for the Pub candidate, a fatal error, indeed.
this is his third try...in a few more weeks he will be considered as a ‘strike out’
They may be afraid to admit it, but there are a number of young, freakish, left-leaning freepers who are thrilled by these numbers......accurate or not.
I would caution you to avoid the word 'fact' when you refer to any poll. Many Ron Paul supporters tend towards dishonesty and they swarm, so this may not be even close to being accurate.
I don't know either way, but I do know that someone with as dangerous a foreign policy as Ron Paul, and one who is so deluded as to think that 9/11 was America's fault, that Iran is not a threat, and that Israel doesn't need to be protected, is not a serious candidate and will NOT win the Republican nomination.
(Sorry to dash the hopes of the Paulites on FR, but it ain't gonna happen).
Yeah, that Islamic threat is such a danger that after 9/11 Bush let millions of illegal aliens from God-knows-where carrying God-know-what waltz right in though the Mexican border and then he allowed hundreds of thousands of Muslim immigrate legally. Thank God he created the DHS and TSA to spy on American citizens and grope Grandma and kids at the airports. And that Al Qaeda! They are such a dangerous, mortal enemy that the US and NATO bombed the people of Libya to hand that country over to them.
Are you certain we weren't married to each other once?
