Gingrich Collapses In Iowa, As Ron Paul Surges to the Front
Atlantic Wire via yahoo ^ | December 19, 2011 | Dashiell Bennet

.....A new poll from Public Policy Polling shows that Ron Paul has taken the lead in the Iowa caucus race, while Newt Gingrich's support is fading fast. A different Gallup poll still shows Grinrich still holding the lead, but slipping, while The New York Times has Paul in the lead as well.

Gingrich has seen his numbers in the PPP poll drop from 27 percent to 14 percent in just three weeks, while his favorability rating is now split at 46 percent for to 47 percent against, the worst of any candidate not named Jon Huntsman. That's quite a fall for someone who looked to be running away with the state and taking charge on the national level.

Mitt Romney has also seen his tick up slightly, putting him just behind Paul for second place. The poll measured voters who are planning to vote in the Republican caucus.

Perhaps the most telling secondary question was, "Do you think Newt Gingrich has strong principles?" Only 36 percent say that he does, but for Paul that number was 73 percent.

Ron Paul will win in Iowa ... then in 6 weeks he will be out of the race.

“Collapses” based solely on one poll from a firm co-founded by DailyKos’ Markos Moulitsas? Uh, thanks but I’ll wait for a few more before believing it.

I’d probably have to vote for Paul...

I'll just stay home, then. Paul is a 9/11 "Truther." The chance he'll have a hawkish foriegn policy is nil.

That’s rather fishy. One of the Iowa polls actually had Gingrich dropping 50% in just one week. There is something going on behind the scenes. It’s there if you are looking for it, but unfortunately most people don’t look beyond the first paragraph.

With Romney and Paul out of question and with Newt on the bubble, 2012 is looking just as bad as 2008.

YUCK!

It’s early, so in my opinion you should vote for your IDEAL (policy-wise) candidate, not concerned about “electability” yet.

By the time we poor, trapped Californians get to vote in June, though, OUR vote likely won’t mean much.

Still pulling for a resurgent Perry, m’self.

Paul is not a truther. Stop lying - he simply repeated what was in the 911 commission findings.

If this poll is accurate, a good many FReepers should be able to finally celebrate.

All of that hard work to help Romney bring his numbers up and push Newts down, might being paying off for these so called conservatives.

With just a bit more work, these FReepers might actually be able to help put Romney over the top and bring us another 4 fricking years of Obama.

Party on folks... be proud of the fruits of your labor.

Obama and the libs have got to be laughing their a$$es off...

Looks like the Republicans would have more luck controlling the House and Senate with veto proof majorities by endorsing certain candidates for Congress and seems more of an attainable goal than nominating a popular presidential candidate.

At the same time going on the attack to remove sitting fixtures in Congress up for reelection by pounding away on their voting records...of course more than half the sitting Republicans would have to bow out in that case. Examples: Voting results on O’bummer care and the recent ‘we can name anyone a combatant for indefinite confinement’ legislation.

But Congress votes for giving away taxpayer’s money all the time while taking rights away little by little...situation hopeless. Mums the word.

Ron Paul has a better chance than Romney TBH

Why? Paul will peel off demo votes whereas Romney will not.

[ Holy crap.....Romney or Paul?
ROMNEY OR PAUL??????

“Excuse me sir, would you prefer a broken arm or a broken leg?” ]

Slow Collapse over the next 4/8 years = Romney

Catastrophic Re-set and Ron-a-geddon - Paul

I am prepared for a SHTF scenario, in some ways it would be better than a SLOW RINO death.....

Still it is a faustian bargain at this point....

I hope Bachman can pull it out and get the nomination at this point...

Newt needs to run some ads.

I’m guessing, however, his strategy is to blast the airwaves the last 2 weeks or so, which has 2 effects:

1. It saves his campaign money, which he has too little of

2. It has the greatest possible effect and is fresh in their minds as they enter the voting booth (this may or may not work)
