Joseph C. Schultz, who was mistakenly shot in the face last week by an FBI agent tracking a bank robbery suspect, showed signs of improvement Tuesday, an attorney for his family said.

Hospital officials in Baltimore downgraded his condition, and an uncle said Schultz spoke for the first time since the shooting, telling his family: "I thought I was going to die."

I hear they handcuffed this guy and let him bleed on the roadside for close to an hour. I guess they would have preferd that he died, reduces the paperwork and potential Lawsuit.

Hasn't the time come for the dangerously incompetent agencies of the FBI and the BATF to be dismanteled and sent into the dust bin of history?

There is so much corruption, incompetency, and flat out agressive attitude towards all citizens, guilty or innocent, that I doubt there is any way to reform or repair them.

The FBI has said the agent who shot Schultz has been reassigned to duties unlikely to involve "armed confrontations," and it has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday.

What! They didn't even take away his gun and suspend the FBI agent.

FBI officials have noted bureau policy in refusing to release the names of agents involved or other details about what led to Friday's traffic stop in Pasadena, as Schultz and his girlfriend were returning home from a shopping trip.

The FBI blatantly refuses to tell the innocent victim who the agent is that shot him in the face point-blank.

On the television show, America's Most Wanted: "If you're a business owner would you, knowing this man's crime, [show mug shot of FBI agent], have him as a customer or kick him out of your store and call the police?"

I hear they handcuffed this guy and let him bleed on the roadside for close to an hour.

That's what one post I read yesterday said.

The father of the young lady who was driving the car was on the program {Ron Smith's WBAL program as reported by Frepper jackbill) and he said that after the young man was shot in the face, he was handcuffed and laid face-down on the ground for about an hour - until the FBI found out that they had the wrong guy. Only then did they call for medical assistance.

She said that while her friend was laying on the ground the FBI agents were whooping it up and refused her begging that they call medical aid. 48

Can you say "guilty until proven innocent"? The FBI agents treated Shultz as guilty until proven innocent. At the very least it's a blatant, malevolent violation of the fourth amendment.

Every pro-constitution Web site; every anti-government-abuse Web site; every government-out-of-control Web site should run with this story.... capitalize on it.

I guess they would have preferd that he died, reduces the paperwork and potential Lawsuit.

Both victims should give detailed accounts of the events in the form of signed affidavits and secure their safety from potential harassment or attacks.

WBAL radio should make copies of the radio program and secure them off site.

Gee, I feel so much safer now that this dangerous Eagle Scout is off the streets. [/sarcasm]

The worst part is, we're expected to trust these bozos to protect us from another 9/11. If they keep shooting the innocents, there won't be anybody left in America except the terrorists!

What policy are they talking about? When details of an investigation are flattering to the FBI they don't hesitate to release them, even if the investigation is still pending. It's only when they screw up bad that this policy appears. What's the justification for withholding the name of this "agent" who shot an innocent young Eagle scout in the face? Maybe this agent has some baggage from the past that the bureau would prefer not to be investigated by the public at large? Can you say, Police State?

Dereliction of duty and negligence also come to mind. I'd hazard a guess and say the feds automatic weapons have killed and injured more innocent Americans in the past 10 years than perps with assault weapons - can anyone help me with stats?

Well being a Scout, according to the media, means he probably deserved to get shot. The Scouts, after all, don't espouse homosexuality. To the fibbies, nags, and rainbowers, that means he's a domestic terrorist.

The FBI developed this "in your face" attitude during the Reno years.

Fed up with govrenment agencies? Consider that the state and locals have policies and practises that promote responsibility:
[Local] police departments typically release the names of officers involved in shootings within hours of such incidents. Baltimore police release the names once officers have notified their families that they were involved in an incident. Maryland State Police release the names as soon as the initial investigation is complete and the agency's superintendent has been updated on the situation -- sometimes within hours of a shooting.
The more local the more responsible, usually. You do find bad departments here and there, but not most. People won't abide it. When the people truly have a say in electing their representatives, and in recalls, referendums, appearances at local meeetings or campaigns in the local press, we have responsible government.

Problem is the Federal government has become almost completely divorced from being a real representative government, where the people can elect true choice, and apply real genuine pressures. That sense of being divorced from the people, being beyond their reach and effect, is what the FBI's irresponsible policy is all about:

"FBI officials have noted bureau policy in refusing to release the names of agents involved or other details"
