AUSTIN, Texas -- The intensified drive to draw Hispanic voters to the Republican Party isn't a voluntary mission of political correctness, but a matter of sheer necessity at the ballot box.
Worried that legions of campaign workers across the country can't speak the fastest-growing language of political importance, the Republican National Committee is sending key workers to intense Spanish language classes. For up to two weeks, GOP officials from selected states will immerse themselves in vocabulary and conversation at the Berlitz Language School in Washington.

Would that be fine if the people who work for you surf the net and "surf porn sites" as you stated? Or is this another one of your hypocritical ideas?

Do you believe in bilingual education as well? How about food stamps for illegals? How about welfare for illegals?

I am second generation American and my family came here and learned English ASAP. Or else they would starve. End of discussion.
I think this problem of assimilation of immigrants stems from many things other than the language people speak when they get here. For instance: any insentive NOT to work must be removed. If not there is no reason to become a contributing member of society, therer is no need to learn English. So the welfare that enables this behavior must be dismantled. Likewise, identity politics must be eradicated. There should be no hyphenated American citizens here. They need to be taught about American History. The system is rigged to encourage people who come here NOT to assimilate. Hell the system is rigged so that people who were BORN here do not assimilate.

We have squandered the legacy purchased in blood by noble patriots with names like Travis, Fannin, Bowie and Crockett.Any particular reason you didn't mention the spilled blood of noble patriots with names like deZavala or Seguin?

All we are seeing from the Republicans these days is incremental socialism. The frog seems to be enjoying the warm water.

Scary isn't it???.....save los Cubanos...they know leftist tyranny when they see it.

I see no problem with the GOP learning any language to get the message out. If reaching out gets you 80% of your goal and not reaching out gets none of your goal, who is the fool?

No, I said Americans citizens who speak the language of choice. ¿Por qué no puede esta misma gente hablar su lenguaje cuando ella desea? ¿Posiblemente cuándo junto en una barra...?

You need to keep those facts secret, they might get in the way of the leftists making their point.

Well I think it all depends on the climate in which people arrive. The climate now, and I got into this in a post above, is that one is encourged vis a vis the welfare state and pernicious identity politics to live off the dole and participate in society. If we could eradicate this social structures that enable people NOT to participate in society, then I think it would be harder to determine whether ones origins is the sole reason for a lack of integration.
For example, as immigration has risen from Spanish speaking countries, so has the handouts for people who arrive here that encourage them not to work.
I am asking this in all honesty: why do you think it is easier to assimilate for Europeans than people from other areas. Most of the Europeans I know hate America and are virtual socialists.

You're the leftist. LMAO

I have said that numerous times on this thread. There is no reason anyone who lives in this country should not speak English. Of course, they have to learn it first. But they should not be allowed to remain illiterate.

One of the salutary things is that we, as Republicans, have no place to go but up in Hispanic voter registration. People need to understand that Hispanic voters are trending middle class and this will bode well for us in the future. However, the immediate future is rather critical, and that is why it is important to have a popular war president in the White House. They will respect Bush as well: look at his good poll numbers among Hispanics
prior to September 11th.
IIRC, Reagan got a significant number of hispanic voters during his time in office. Hispanic voters respect a man with strength of purpose.

Here in Texas we have 2 latino Democrats running for governor. Morales and Sanchez. Supposedly one of their debates will be in Spanish only. Sign of the times.

If you only knew me, you'd realize how idiotic a statement that was.
