P.C. Town Bans Santa Claus

P.C. Town Bans Santa Claus

Is something strange in the water in Montgomery County, Md.? This enclave of leftist thought police is notorious for censoring Indian nicknames of sports teams and trying to criminalize smoking in private homes. Now one of its towns has banned Santa Claus.

Kensington Mayor Lynn Raufaste says that a mere two families "felt that they would be uncomfortable" with Santa being part of the annual Christmas tree lighting. So the town council gave St. Nick the heave-ho-ho-ho.

These two families, who don't celebrate Christmas, say they feel excluded because - duh - Santa is synonymous with the holiday.

In years past, Santa would arrive on a fire truck and light the tree with the mayor. But on Sunday, the mayor will light the tree herself, something she calls "a shame," WJLA-TV reported today.

How come kooky, out-of-touch bureaucrats and politicians have no consideration for the majority who are "uncomfortable" with P.C. idiocy?

We know there are plenty of good, sensible people in Montgomery County, because some of them have written to us about the Berserkley-like nonsense going on there. It is time for the silent majority to contact their elected officials and roar.

Perhaps the town should give the Mayor and the town council the old Heave-Ho??

Sorry. . .couldn't find any pics. I'll look some more.

Sort of shot themselves in the foot on this one. If pagan old St. Nick is not ok, and Jesus isn't either, what on earth are the townsfolk celebrating?

I don't know why I even read these articles. All they do is raise my blood pressure. If I lived in this town, I'd dress up like St. Nick from here on out til Christmas just to spite these people.

My e-mail sent this afternoon

It has been reported that your municipality of Kensington Maryland has banned Santa and his arrival on a fire truck from your Christmas tree lighting.

I live in Wisconsin and recently have been embarrassed by the actions of The Madison WI School Board who attempted to ban the Pledge of Alliance in the Madison Schools. The action was supposed to prevent a few students from feeling uncomfortable. Until I read the story about your actions I assumed the Madison School Board members were the worst incompetents in public service. You have single handedly saved their reputations.

By the way don't get any ideas and try to ban the Pledge in your town.

Merry Christmas

I think Santa is a secular humanist religious symbol. Just a slight re-arrangement of the letters will provide the source. This is clearly an establishment of a leftist religion by the town and is therefore unconstitutional. These fundamentalist secular humanists never give up trying to foist their religion on us.

Hi, old buddy. I sent this message to the Mayor today.

"Mayor: May I suggest that you stay away from the Christmas tree lighting. Someone has to have the good sense to put an end to these kinds of things. I am a neighbor across the river in Fairfax County, but it seems as though we are on different continents."

God damn these people. How about a couple of the townsfolk telling the mayor that they feel "uncomfortable" with these 2 families being part of the towns residents, and giving the families the heave-ho-ho right out of town.

"Santa Claus" is an Anglicization of San Nicklaas, the Dutch name for St. Nicholas. It has nothing to do with Satan.

Even though my fingers are still aching from my e-mails to Leahy and Schumer, I wonder if you would mind posting an address for these maroons. Since I'm on a roll, I might as well send them a few choice thoughts.

Difficult to tell whether Montgomery County is trying to become the Berkley East or Ithica South.

As earlier posts/headlings said, they have become a worldwide laughingstock.

What about the people who feel excluded because Santa won't be there? Does it work both ways? Probably not.

LOL - Good Idea! You think like me. We should send in my Hubby. He looks just like Santa, he's 6'5", 300 lbs. and extremely loud. Let's get him a sack or two of coal and let him scare the heck outta them.

If you don't celebrate Christmas why do you give a damn about the tree lighting?

Excellent concept, I never send cards, but I'd be delighted to send these mopes the most expense Hallmark has to offer. With the most Christian postage stamps I can find!

Thanks for helping me to understand that. But I must point out that the notion of Santa Claus is a clever ploy to get parents to lie to their children, while diverting attention from the birth of Christ. And saints were a method of worship of graven images. You secular humanists keep trying to foist your modern ideas on us, but it won't work!!! Now what is "satire" the Anglicization of?

"These two families, who don't celebrate Christmas, say they feel excluded because - duh - Santa is synonymous with the holiday."

Why would these families WANT to attend the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony????

Exactly what part of "Christmas Tree" do these people not understand???

If Santa is synonymous with the holiday, what pray tell is a Christmas Tree?
