What would Abraham Lincoln do?

Last time I looked there was a big memorial to President Lincoln in DC.

Wasn't he the president who took it upon himself to suspend the writ of habeas corpus for national security sake (even though the constitution says only Congress can do this)? Wasn't he the president who suspended 1st Amendment rights and imprisoned over 30,000 people without being charged (the grandson of Francis Scott Keyes being one in particular who spent the entire Civil War in prison)? Wasn't he the head of the administration which banished a duly elected US Congressman from Ohio (Clement Vanlandigham) for speaking out about the hypocrisy of the war against the South?

If all this is true (which it is), and people defend Lincoln all the time as the greatest there ever was, then I say that during this time of national crisis (much worse than the South simply wanting to leave the Union) that we REVOKE all visas (of any type) to people of middle-eastern descent and send them HOME!

This time I'm 100% on Abe's side and I think that if he were president they'd already be on a plane.

Either we do this for all of our sakes or then we should tear down the Lincoln memorial because our 'tolerance' today makes it a joke.

Why shouldn't the US have the right to expel non-citizens from the country. The US has been attacked. Do you disagree that expelling Arab non-citizen Muslims would decrease the risk of future terrorist attacks inside the US?

I don't think we need to suspend anything to round up non-citizens and deport them.

MY POINT EXACTLY! In 1860 there was no bioterrorism, no suitcase nuclear bombs, and no one particularly wanting to go on suicide missions to kill innocent civilians. There was also no one trying to do away with the US (maybe just make it smaller in membership).

But now, it seems that we must be 'tolerant' of our foreign middle-eastern 'guests' who want to come here and take advantages of our system and then use this advantage to destroy us. All the while, many deserving foreigners with sons and daughters here can't get a visa to come visit!

I'd be willing to pay higher gas prices if sending them home caused oil prices to go up! Hell, in another decade we'll be running automobiles on hydrogen anyway!
