You're gonna have to wake up a lot earlier in the morning to pull one over on us, Grant.
We're still waiting for you to stop with the vanities and start with the discussions.

[Theological Liberals] have welcomed practicing homosexuals into their congregations, their pulpits, their theological professorships and their bureaucratic office- holdings. I pretty much agree with the article save one thing: you shame the theological conservatives for not reaching out to homosexuals, but the implication (whether intentional or not) is that there is no shame in homosexuals holding theological professorships or bureaucratic offices within the church as some theological liberals allow. I disagree with that.
Homosexuality presents a difficult case for the church. Clearly, they are sinners just like you and I. They need the gospel just like you and I. They need to repent just like you and I. I do not agree with the extremist stance many evangelicals have taken. Anyone who harbors ill towards the homosexual community should read What's So Amazing About Grace? by Philip Yancey.
Just my thoughts.

Why can't they remain celibate? Plenty of straight folks do.

If they are not active homosexuals, if they do not in any way promote or engage in homosexual behavior, then I have no problem with it from my end. However, it is also in the hands of that individual. If he is aware of the sin in him and perserveres in fighting it, giving himself over to the Holy Spirit to aide in his fight, then if he feels called to the ministry or classroom he should be there. If he repeatedly struggles and stumbles, unable to get an upper hand, then he should not be considering those vocations. My same arguments apply to alcoholics, those addicted to pornography, and really any other habitual and pervasive sin. I do NOT view homosexuality as "more sinful" than any other. If an individual has a struggle with sin in his life that would be a major distraction, he should not be shepherding a congregation.

Hi,
Actually, to clarify, I'm az4vladz, not Grant. I also post as az4vlad, but signed up for an account as az4vladz because I thought my az4vlad account wasn't working (which turned out to be user error actually). I publish Grant's columns on my site, IntellectualConservative.com. Although I may not always agree with Grant's articles 100%, I think they are appropriate for my site.

Hi Grant!
Welcome to FreeRepublic (where most of us were born before 9-26-02)
Have you ever read God's Word? - I suggest that you start with Romans Chapter 1.
To: editor-surveyor
The site checks out as not being Grant's. The owner lives in Phoenix, and Grant preaches in Maine.
I do find it a coincidence, however, that this poster started posting at the same time Grant came under fire.

Rachel,
Which accredited college granted grant his degrees? Why doesn't your forum list the schools? You mention his coursewrok at Harvard. Lot's of curiosity here.
