I’m not Catholic, but I don’t get the idea of a pope resigning. It’s like a monarch abdicating - it gives a feeling of delegitimizing the whole thing.

Sheen had that wry, Jack Benny-esque, sidelong glance after making a funny line.

He added that the possibility remains remote, since the Pope "is in good health and, God willing, there are many projects still to be realized."Heaven help us!
Even if there is "always someone trying to hinder reform, who would like to remain stuck in the times of the Pope-king," he said, ...
Now we have tyrannical Pope-dictator.

Liberal freeloaders never quit a work free “job” once they get their hands on one.

A billion or so Catholics are feeling the same way.
When Bergoglio “came out on the loggia” eleven years ago, he famously merely processed to be the Bishop of Rome.
Not the Vicar of Christ.
Had Benedict XVI legitimately resigned the papacy pursuant to then-current Catholic canon law (which he never did do), he would have been followed by a successor to the papacy who would have had no choice but to accept the title Vicar of Christ.
Bergoglio being cheeky, and in on the “joke”, knew this, and responded accordingly. He must be getting tired of the ruse.

Well, Bergoglio has disgraced the Chair of St Peter.

That’s a good explanation. My question is, do we no longer have a true Vicar of Christ once Benedict died?
Bergoglio is in the office, but didn’t receive the graces that a true Vicar would have been given from Christ. Is that right?
