(2 Peter 1:20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (Isaiah 28:10) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:13) But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
—> Greetings all you saints.
Good morning Saint Mark!
Yes. Independent Baptists are independent and differ greatly among them. Usually basic theology is the same. Ones that “go of the rails” typically remove the word, “Baptist” from the name.
The major difference is the format of their services and level of separation from the world. You just have to find the one that is the best fit for you. For us, the best fit is 1950s traditional, no contemporary “Christian” music, King James, respectful dignified services, focus on missions, etc. Offerings stay within the church and aren’t funneled up to a convention. The only hierarchy is within each church.
That was my point - as there are divergent dogmas under the blanket label “Independent Baptist” there is no point in asking “what does the IB hold on doctrine for X”
“there are divergent dogmas under the blanket label”
I wouldn’t say there are divergent “dogmas”, as I take “dogma” to equal “doctrine”. I think the basic doctrine/dogma is consistent throughout, e.g. two ordinances, soteriology, etc. The differences come through level of “fluff” and behavior.
👍👍👍👍👍
Yet in no introduction of NT books does Paul or Peter or anyone else claim a title of “father” as seen in Roman Catholicism.
Calling catholic veneration of mother Mary a cult is uncalled for
Nothing to be gained sowing discord amongst us especially in these times when we are being throttled together by the woke under the influence of the fallen angel
Of course he is.
But the Catholic religion more than dropped the ball in dealing with homosexual, child molesting clergy.
They should have had temporal punishment along with being defrocked instead of being protected and moved around so nobody knows what's going on.
And how many opinions have Roman Catholics expressed on these forum? Some claim the current pope is illegitimate and in contradiction of RC canon law and Unam Sanctum they continually criticize the “first see” and do not make themselves subject to the Roman Pontiff.
Thank you for that clarification
15 For though you have countless guides in Christ,
you do not have many fathers.
For I became YOUR FATHER in Christ Jesus THROUGH THE GOSPEL.
16 I urge you, then, BE imitators of me.
Is this inerrant Scripture? Should I just ignore this..?
Bueller?
Your claim though, against Catholics doubling down
on The Real Presence of Christ is very true.
For Most MASS attending Catholics that is anyway.
Those who can't be bothered to worship God for even just 1 hr a week-
certainly wouldn't believe they could take in the Body Of Christ
into their own Body. Who needs that? Right?
But so YOU know... this assault of yours MUST ALSO BE -
first and foremost, lobbied against the Earliest Christians.
According to yous guys,
WE Catholics didn't come along till early 4th Century Rome, 250 years later.
So we didn't start the fire, (pun intended),
we just learned and copied from the guys who learned from the Apostles,
and the guys that learned from those guys.
Dropping some notable names who we have thought had it going on,
and so copied their faith into our Worship also:
Ignatius of Antioch
Justin Martyr
Irenaeus
Hippolytus
Cyprian of Carthage
Cyril of Jerusalem
etc.
even up to St. Augustine...
that is, until those pesky Catholics hijacked the whole deal.
So you are right in lumping us in with the Early Christian Church-
who also doubled-down on, (AND DIED FOR) professing
the FAITH, Love and Necessity For
The Real Presence of Christ Bodily in the Eucharist-
So just remember there...
WE ARE ONLY THE COPYCATS of those earliest Christians...
Don't Blame US !!!
That is after we study your life and vote on it.
Maybe...
Why don’t you follow the plain language of Christ when he says, "Call no man father".?
"Come on, Tom: lick yer fingers!"
It showed a list of people who did some bad things.
I just showed that Paul had some skeltons; too.
(And let’s not forget the things that your first pope has been recorded as doing.)
I thought you didn’t knock over that Piggley Wiggley?
DD?
It’s more like the governing structure differences.
Gotta actually SHOW these Different Dogmas if we’re going to rail against them.
(I oughta leave you two alone...)
