No worries... I actually was channeling my own Pre-Cana marriage experience.....
The Priest asked us at some point.... Maybe in the beginning....” so why do you want to get married in the church? Not one couple had the Matt 19 answer.... A sacramental union with God....

But I did learn some things in those 8 Saturdays... And it stuck with me that the one- flesh translation actually meant a “new organism” out of 2 becoming one new creation...
If we didn’t really think it was something else we weren’t understanding what the purpose of marriage is. It’s a promise to God that one really ought to keep. But 2 sinners trying to live together for the rest of their lives ain’t always easy... Or doable. It’s only when you want a do-over the Church plays a role....

Except for adultery (Jesus,Bible).

The other allowance for divorce for a believer is if their spouses rejects their faith and decides to leave them...(Holy Spirit,Bible)

The idea that a marriage, conducted before God and man is “null” is to allow folks to squiggle out from the proscribed standard D’s set by God.

Example, a woman who divorced her husband for multiple infidelities was bothered by the RCC for a year asking for her to agree to anullment as her ex-husband was converting to RC since his girlfriend (one he was adulterous with) wanted to marry in he RCC.

Finally had to have her attorney write a cease and desist letter to the Diocese. Six months later, she received a letter from the diocese informing her that her marriage, conducted outside of the RCC had been declared nullified. What an insult. Attorney was willing to sue, but woman moved on.

That kind of thing?

Odd thing, the ex-husband and new wife attend a Protestant church....

Hmmm, was the husband a major donor? That might explain the diocese going thru hoops and convolutions to grant him his annulment?

No, he was/is my ex-son-in-law, a common idiot whose life is a mess, still.

Catholic Caucus designation has been removed because of several violations of guidelines for caucus threads.

If you do not have time to monitor your caucus threads, do not post so many of them.

This goes for anyone who posts caucus threads.
